AR 15's have no function in our civil society. They were designed for attack, and killing, the engineers were not designing this for the personal safety market, they were designing this for killers around the world.
Why do people want them? It's just like they want fast cars, or video games: they want to play. There are all kinds of high-minded excuses for why people want a powerful killing weapon but the reality is they just like to play with them. They are no good for hunting but they make one hell of a racket and satisfy the inner child.
So we will see more innocent people die (many will be children) because people 'just want to have fun', people want to play.
That is the reality of the AR 15, and weapons of war like it in the marketplace. Some people play, others grow rich on innocent blood.
But have you noticed that these people, the most vehemently opposed to guns tend to sexualize them? Have you noticed the fetishization that infects their rhetoric?
-anthropomorphisms such as "lovingly caress"
-sexualizing gun owners - saying they are "ammosexuals" or are "compensating"
-phallic imagery or comparisons
Its a fascinating pathology.
It makes me wonder if it is actually about guns at all.
why, yes, now that you mention it:

Yep, I see a lot of facts that disagree with you, that you refuse to see....keep them blinders on...
Your post is a bunch of crap, you do realize that this mean old nasty rifle kills about 100 - 200 people a year (yes, people die, it's a tragedy) however, in comparison with the pistol, it fails in comparison to the death count. So, basically with your blinders on, you don't care about the other 9000+ people that are killed....

In fact, over the past decade, ARs have become a very popular firearm choice for hunting
AR's are becoming one of the premier hunting rifles around....
Gotta love the fear mongering.....if you're so worried about this evil rifle and it's innocent blood, you should be far more worried about pistols than this mean old nasty black rifle...
Here is a great video explaining things at a simple. People are always asking why do you need. This explains it well. You may not agree, of course, it is liberal dominated, but enjoy. https://youtu.be/M6o-xjOhnIs
I was going to say maybe it's the light weight of the rifle, but that depends on which AR15 version rifle we are talking about. Just the wide variance between models, might be why this style of rifle is so popular. It's sort of like the SUV of rifles, there isn't one singular SUV model, just as there is no single AR15 model.
Referenced for weight comparisons between popular AR-15 options. The only non-AR is the SCAR.

So then, do you suggest we require AR 15's to be modified to single shot only, and classify them as a hunting weapon?
I see you make an excellent case for banning the pistol, the NRA would not like to see that in print. Your casual dismissal of 100 - 200 deaths a year with 'it's a tragedy' oh well, is revolting. ' Thoughts and Prayers' while you wait in line at the ammo counter? 'Thoughts and Prayers' while you go out to play with your toy?
It is atrocious that the only real defense you can come up with is that another firearm is comparatively worse.
The debate is over, and won at the point when all you have left is phallic references. Thanks for conceding.
