In a brief swearing-in ceremony in the Oval Office on Wednesday evening, Mr. Trump said Mr. Tillerson understood “the importance of strengthening our alliances and forming new alliances to enhance our strategic interests and the safety of our people.”
Mr. Trump added, “It’s time to bring a clear-eyed focus on foreign affairs, to take a fresh look at the world around us, and to seek new solutions grounded in very ancient truths.”
Maybe the President should have listened to Republicans Marco Rubio and John McCain who both were against Tillerson for Secretary of State.
I, for one, am not really sorry to see Tillerson go. He was probably doing his best, but his Russia ties were problematic and he often seemed missing in action when key foreign policy issues were being made. I'm not sure how Pompeo will do (he has problematic ties of his own, although not with Russia). But, at least he seems a little more assertive than Tillerson. Maybe that will work in the long run, maybe not. Like so much of this administration, we'll have to wait and see.
Frankly I don't understand why anyone wants to work for Trump?
Trump is crazy and his followers go right along. Look how almost all of them are finding problems in Tillerson now while they were posting threads 2 months back about how Tillerson was still with Trump and that was to show how left is insane and don't know anything when they talk about dear God. Now when exact same thing happened - all of a sudden Tillerson is a problem. Boss is perfect no matter what he does
Tillerson is a globalist. It's highly likely he was picked because he was recommended by advisers, but he was clearly not on Trump's team. He has always been at odds with the President.

Even Trump's supporters know he's too stupid to make his own decisions.
He gave the finger to Trump! Virtual finger that is.
Did not mention or thank Trump at all.
Prepare for scathing memoirs from Tillerson.
I wonder what the other Republicans in the administration think of this latest mishap. Will there finally come a point when the rest of them finally "get it" and band together and DO something.
Tillerson was never on the same page with the President on anything. I"m surprised he lasted this long. He bucked the President on every issue. It was past time for him to go.
Well perhaps if Trump had spent some time getting to know Tillerson a bit before he nominated him those issues would have been obvious and we could have avoided all of this. The first time Trump ever spoke to Tillerson was when he called to offer him the job. The SOS is not like the head of Agriculture or something like that. Its the top cabinet position and should have been dealt with a little more thought.
But its all Tillerson's fault. He should have caved into whatever Trump wanted and dodged back and forth whenever Trump suddenly changed policy on the fly.

Its like if you ever worked for a company that had a boss that mistreated the people there and fired people for no real reason. Pretty soon its everyone against the bad boss. That is not a good way to get things done. But the tone is set by the person in charge.

They're going to need a whole separate wing in the Trump Presidential Library for memoirs written by former WH employees.
