In 2017 we had 64,000 drug deaths due to drug overdoses. The drugs coming over the southern border into the United States is much more potent today. Many young people are dying and each year the number of deaths go higher. We HAVE TO CLOSE THE BORDER!

We are allowing cheap drugs like heroin and pills that are so potent young people are dying in large numbers every day.

Will the activists March to save a life from drugs and demand the border to be closed? Will Oprah donate big money to send a message that our young people should be protected from all those potent drugs coming into neighborhoods across this nation. Who will stand to protect our young people from this scourge on society today?

Most drugs come to the US via boat.

"well over 95% of the drugs are moving on the water via container ships, non-commercial vessels, pleasure boats, sail boats, fishing boats. They also have fast boats which try to outrun our law enforcement assets."

Closing the borders will do NOTHING to stop the drug distributors who will happily ship millions of doses of opioids to towns with a population of a few hundred. but can't go disturbing BigPharma now, can we?

Wouldn't it be nice if that were the case? But it's not. We have all kinds of drugs in our state, and no border with Mexico.

When you learn the basics of the drug trade, you can then perhaps come up with a better solution.

American Pharma Companies and Rogue/Selfish doctors addicted MILLIONS of Americans and kept them supplies with BILLIONS of pills. Somehow you skip over that.

Mexicans didn't know how to make real heroin so they started to make a crude form - not very dangerous and it can be smoked or swallowed also (black tar). But there is good heroin coming in from Afghanistan, Iran, Europe, etc. It can come inside a small statue mailed from anywhere - or by the ton. You can't stop it at a border....

Anyway, we are already past much of that phase. Now chemists - in the USA and elsewhere - are making concentrates from scratch. A baggie full could stone 100,000 people or more.

You need to forget about the border being a drug thing. We need comprehensive immigration reform for MANY reasons, the biggest probably being the ability to have seasonal and temp workforces.

Not true according to this. https://drugabuse.com/featured/drug-...cross-borders/ 59% come over land.

It comes in via hundreds of ways. Everything from mules who swallow balloons full of it...to totally legal trains and trucks that may have one SKU serial numbered appliance stuffed with millions of dollars worth of it.

You can stop it just as easily as you could stop booze. Which means never.

You didn't mention the right thing to do!

It seems the right thing to do is for Congress to make a bipartisan immigration reform bill that includes "all of the above" from Daca to some wall to a LOT of technology, to exact numbers and everything else.

That is what they were elected for..an what they are paid for.

The Soviets couldn't even make the Berlin Wall work...and that was only a dozen miles or so. A fence or wall is right for the busy areas (already there), but it will not stop the drug trade. If it is done with fair immigration reform, it will slow illegal immigration...which is already slowing due to more jobs in Mexico and fewer here.

Most Mexicans, given the choice, would live in Mexico....unless they already have a lot of history and family up here. As Mexico develops and wages rise they will head back there.

In a few years we may be crying due to not being able to get good help for Big Ag.
