Iowa is set to become the latest Republican-led state to target so-called sanctuary cities by withholding money from local governments that don't comply with federal immigration laws, even though the plan could lead to court challenges.
I think one of the biggest problems with the illegal resident issue in the USA is that local, state and federal govts, corporations and even American citizens, have allowed or ignored the issue for so long. Now it is at a critical stage. and the there needs to be a resolution and action - -not more opportunities for dismissing or allowing folks to be here illegally.
I need to learn more about the sanctuary city issue but on the surface it just doesn't seem right.
So glad I live in Texas . They passed a bill (SB4) that allows sheriffs to be arrested if they dont follow the law... Towns can be sued. They also must hold illegals.... Hope iowa gets it through.

Sad state of affairs that we have to have a law on the book because OTHER laws are ineffectual.
Laws only affect those who are law abiding... they have no bearing on anyone else (no matter What position they may hold in society/business/government).
On March 13, 2018, the Court of Appeals issued a ruling that unblocked most of the law, effectively allowing SB4 to go into effect.
seems pretty clear to me.
