I am so effing sick of this argument! Not all abortions are performed because a woman finds herself unexpectedly pregnant. Sometimes things go horribly, terribly wrong during a much-wanted pregnancy and the most logical path forward is termination. Ask me how I know. There are more of us out here who been through such an experience than you can imagine, and when you've sat in front of a pediatric neurologist and sobbed while learning that your pregnancy is doomed, then perhaps you'll have something of value to add to the discussion. Until that point, just SHUT UP!

Exactly...

Many snips but the entire proposal is worth the read.

BLUEXIT

Truth is, you red states just haven’t been pulling your weight. Not for, well, forever. Red states are nearly twice as dependent on the federal government as blue states. Of the twelve states that received the least federal aid in return for each tax dollar they contribute to the U.S. Treasury, ten of them voted for Hillary Clinton—and the other two were Michigan and Wisconsin, your newest recruits. By the same count, 20 of the 26 states most dependent on federal aid went to Trump.

So here’s my modest proposal:

You go your way, we go ours.

We give up. You win. From now on, we’ll treat the animating ideal on which the United States was founded—out of many, one—as dead and buried. Federalism, true federalism, which you have vilified for the past century, is officially over, at least in spirit. You want to organize the nation around your cherished principle of states’ rights—the idea that pretty much everything except the U.S. military and paper currency and the national anthem should be decided at the local level? Fine.
So: What are we in Blue America going to do about it? What would it mean to remove ourselves as far as possible from the federal government?

For starters, we now endorse cutting the federal income tax to the bone—maybe even doing the full Wesley Snipes and abolishing it altogether. We will raise our state and local taxes accordingly to pay for anything we might need or want. We ask nothing more from you and your federal government. Nothing for infrastructure, or housing, or the care of the poor and sick—not that you gave us much, anyway. All we want is our money, and you can keep yours, dollar for dollar.

Still think FEMA is some kind of liberal welfare scam? Poof—it’s gone! We will never again beg the people you elected to office to help us in the wake of what should have been considered national tragedies, such as September 11 and Hurricane Sandy. Meanwhile, best of luck with all those tornadoes, floods, hurricanes, forest fires, and—all new!—Oklahoma fracking-earthquakes you always seem to be having.

You don't speak for atheists. I'm an atheist and don't think abortion is evil

I applaud this message. I am so ready to split the country and let red states live the results of their vote. I want nothing from red states and I want to give them the same - nothing.

Abortion is a classic example. Birth control should be given out like candy. Making abortion illegal and/or very hard to obtain will only result in the poorest in the country forced to give birth. That simply means a dramatic increase in the number of extremely poor people.

Some of you are such hypocrites and actually pretty heartless. All you care about is a fetus. Then when they are born, you care nothing for them because we have hundreds of thousands of kids waiting to be adopted. Why aren't you advocating for them. Plus abortion will always exist with or without funding. Women will just go to back alleys again. Is that what we really want.

It's just funny that the so called party of "personal freedom" when it comes to Guns doesn't want any regulations yet they want to legislate what a woman can do with her body.

Hypocrites !

You couldn't be more wrong. There are currently about 100,000 foster kids up for adoption in the USA and 2 million couples ready to adopt a child. There is a long waiting list to adopt, couples have to wait years to do so.

Maybe YOU don't care about those kids but millions of people in fact do!

So Republicans want to turn the poor into a baby factory for the rich? We really are becoming A Handmaid's Tale! The poor will be forced to have babies they know they can't afford then told to put them up for adoption. And if they keep them, they become a burden on taxpayers. This all sounds so... Republican.

Why do Dems want abortions----seems they don't want to support the poor when they say they do. Hypocrites.
