Compliance with their wishes, and a recognition of their leader as a statesman who gets to meet the US President face to face is hardly nothing. But I guess you have to buff the turd you're given.
As soon as Kim was stumbling in his high heels to see Trump's Presidential Limo, Which is actually very very bad, bigly, they had already started improvements.
Kim is a dictator, without nuclear weapons or threats he has nothing to guarantee that he will not be overthrown. Why would he give up his insurance policy? He doesn't care about his people or anyone but himself, same as Trump, 2 spoiled rich kids who are fat bullies.
Everyone should be skeptical of NK's intentions given their history but this is not something that will happen overnight. This was only one meeting and it will require time and more meetings before declaring it a failure or a success.

You are trying to spin it so that them making improvements to their nuclear facilities is not a failure?

Kim's problems are internal as well as external. The Kim dynasty has been able to maintain power by isolating NK from the rest of the world. When you can fit the entire archive of the NYT on top of a pencil eraser that becomes more difficult each day.
This is all part of the long-game. Trump knows what he's doing.
The reality is, Kim knows what Trump's expectations are, and if Kim goes on back on his word, we simply ramp the sanctions back up and restart military drills, both of which Kim doesn't want. We go right back to square one, and if that happens, Kim's reputation would be destroyed, making it much harder for a future peace deal.
The ball is in Kim's court right now. He can choose the easy path, or the hard path where his regime gets destroyed.
Yep, the ball is in Kim's court alright and he is running with it past his finish line while Trump plays golf!

Baby steps, I wouldn't expect them to immediately cease all activities. There was five summits between Reagan and Gorbachev between '85 and '88. The second one at Reykjavik did not result in an agreement but paved the way for an agreement in '87.

Wow, I thought Trump had solved this problem. Who knew it would be more complex than a photo op meeting?
