Don't they see how crowded the world is? Everywhere you go, it's full of people, the world is overpopulated, even small towns are fully congested, so why are people still breeding like there is no tomorrow? Maybe government should give people tax breaks for avoiding having children instead of having children.

The world is not crowded. Population centers are crowded, but overall there is still plenty of room.

Talk to your parents.

Or maybe some counselor at school.

Perhaps your family doctor.

Increasingly they are not.

As to why people have 1 or 2 children instead of zero, it's probably because 1) they can responsibly afford to, and 2) they want to have a legacy.

As to why people have 4 or 5 children, it's probably because they have not run the numbers. And that's a nice way of putting it.

I live in a small town in one of the smallest states (Oregon) and believe me, it is overcrowded even here.

People have children because they want to do so. You are free to do the opposite if it suits you better. I'm not trying to be flippant here. It really is as simple as that.

It's not that simple. American women at least have fewer children than they would like to, mostly because of economic constraints.

I struggle to think of a more destructively cavalier attitude that being a parent is simply a free choice. When you have a child you aren't prepared to care for, an innocent child bears the brunt of your irresponsibility for the rest of their life.

No, it isn't. Rural locations by definition are not 'congested.'

Even if it were (which it isn't), America's birth rate is below replacement level, meaning we need to have MORE kids just to keep the population level and continue to fund the SS ponzi scheme.

No. There is physical room, but even a casual study on the subject will show that resources (especially water) are running very short. The resources on Earth cannot sustain a huge population increase.

Personally, I think the tax code should limit the number of exemptions allowed for children. But you can't tell people not to have them - not in a free society.
