I read that. It basically says Trump supporters will forgive him anything because their devotion to him is beyond logic. he's more like a religion for them.
I think that liberals are aware that Trump's small rabid base doesn't care about him colluding with a foreign enemy or caging children or the lies or meltdowns or whatever else is going on at any given time. They drool over him because he says what they want to hear. Their efforts are for the non-voters, the on-the-fencers, and the traditional conservatives who don't support Trump (i.e. the majority of Americans).
I got this far... will continue reading. While I don't share the vantage point of the writer, the below is what I have been saying since the election of Trump. To quote Ronald Reagan: “The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they’re ignorant; it’s just that they know so much that isn’t so.
5 Republican factions... Each faction’s continued support for Trump is based upon how he acts on their priorities, not on one overarching theme. That doesn’t mean Trump backers are blind. But in our bipartisan system, opposition to Trump means supporting the Democrats.

It is impossible to overstate the degree of daily vituperation visited upon the president in the media. the media cries “wolf” at every passing shadow, many Trump backers simply don’t believe them. None of this is to say that Trump’s support is fixed.
