I have a hunch about why Trump never released his tax returns.

You can smell the corruption from a mile away and that stink is on Trump whether he likes it or not. Trump hired these guys.
Manafort lived in Trump Tower and they were super buddy buddy...birds of a feather and all that.

I agree, too.

The attempt at putting distance between himself and Manafort is pretty weak.

Rick Gates, the key prosecution witness in the tax and fraud trial of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, testified Monday he had committed crimes alongside and at the direction of his former partner -- and had also stolen from Manafort himself.

In stunning testimony, Gates stated he and Manafort had 15 foreign accounts they did not report to the federal government, and knew it was illegal. Gates said he did not submit the required forms "at Mr. Manafort's direction."
Gates then admitted that he also turned the tables on Manafort -- cheating him out of "several hundred thousand" dollars by submitting false expense reports that were paid out of some of the undisclosed foreign bank accounts in Cyprus.

Yeah. Gates testimony is pretty damning. Add in the sheer number of crimes he confessed to on the stand, and that lying will get him nailed with all of them....this is a man that will be VERY careful to be 100% truthful.

Yeah. Ouch. That was some really damaging testimony. I was wondering what the fake invoices were about. Makes it REALLY freaking hard to claim Gates was the mastermind when he was secretly embezzling money from these accounts. If he was the guy behind it there wouldnt have been any need to embezzle any of it.

Very good point. Gates knows that his only chance at getting a break is being 100% truthful. If Manafort's defense tries to suggest that he's lying on the stand they better have the goods to back it up. Otherwise it will backfire.
