I don't think it is the hungry who are attacking others. I think it is the "tolerant" and "open-minded" (at least in their own mind).

Well, when you're in a car wreck, crumpled by the side of the road, I'll remember that you'd rather have my thoughts and prayers than an ambulance.

"1,000 houses have been destroyed in the biggest fire in the history of California."

"Prayers."

Pray or don't pray, but posting "prayers" is useless and can be quite annoying depending on the context.
Being flamboyantly public with prayers is anti biblical anyway so in addition it is hypocritical within the framework of their own religion. Be not like the Pharisees and what not...

.. ok, as long a you are OK with someone telling you they are praying to Allah, quoting the Quran, or saying Allah will provide, to show their concern with your misfortune

It's because some atheists / agnostics are as in-your-face obnoxious as preachy religious fanatics are.

Mainly it's the hypocrisy of saying "Thank God", "God heard your prayers", or "God spared you" while "he" wreaks havoc and death on those around you.

I think this may be the key thing.

Anyone can pray, for anyone, at any time. Great. It gets annoying when it becomes a matter of almost bragging about it. Announcing to the world that you are going to pray is the right's version of virtue signalling.

I would never attack anyone for praying. But since you asked, OP, that's my answer.

On this sort of same note, how many times do you see even just here on CD where people post prayers or condolences to people who most probably never will see them, like following a news report about some calamity ?

Perhaps, as I mentioned earlier, it would be more comforting to simply be presented with the middle finger?

A prayer from someone might not be much, but it's a whole lot more than someone sitting in a 15 room mansion or driving in their Lexus nodding and saying, "This is what I pay taxes for." One of the many things taxes are is an excuse to never lift a finger for anyone or anything.
