If you really think it's only about competition, you don't know the whole story. Additionally, Chinese tech companies would be completely incapable of innovating on their own without the Chinese government's requirement that anyone building anything in China has to share their IP. How do you think the Chinese build anything otherwise? All they do is follow a blueprint. Indian companies can't even do THAT.

The collapse of the US political system into 3rd world corruption is at the heart of tons of our problems like this, including the insane demand for cheap labor that the H-1B visa and L-1 and even OPT have been reduced to, and until buying politicians like this is criminalizing and as long as American politicians can just be bought and sold by deep pocketed corporations and individuals, then the hundreds of millions of Americans just looking to work hard and contribute normally to the country won't be listened to. They don't have a chance.

Thing is, and this is the big theme here, all these cheap labor abuses of the H-1B aren't just bad for American workers, they're bad for Indians and other foreign workers too. They're brought over specifically because they are easily abused and underpaid, sometimes their salaries not paid at all while the carrot of the green card is cruelly dangled before them in return for lower salaries and sweat shop working hours, as tons of recent legal cases, some cited here by Munna have demonstrated. Workers in both the United States and India are abused and tossed by the wayside with the current corrupt citizen, and the only ones to benefit are the crooked, bought-and-sold politicians and the billion-dollar corporations and individuals who skip out on paying taxes and bribe the politicians for more an more cheap labor to abuse. Because to them, it's never enough, until the United States is parasitized enough from all the corruption that it collapses, while India is drained of its own enterprising youth and robbed of the companies and jobs that could be created back in India. 99.9% of us on both sides of the Pacific Ocean pay a terrible price for all this corruption, and it's only the corrupt sell outs in private and public sector in both our countries that benefit, so the masses of us in both our countries need to mobilize. Our enemies aren't each other, it's the corrupt oligarchs whom exploit us both.
You can all call your senators and ask them to block S.386. This will be a major set back to the American Workers if passed.

Guys Please sign the pettition to stop HR1044 and S386 , which call for monopolizing green cards exclusively for Indians so that employers can get more cheap labor and screw US workers.

Please sign to save the future of our kids.

I'm thinking this applies in this thread:

The Rise of the American-Asian 'Repat'

"All of this was before Donald Trump was elected. In just the first year of Trump’s presidency, Indian student applications fell by 30 percent. As for Chinese students, the FBI has ongoing cases nationwide of students doubling as amateur spies for Beijing, and the Trump administration has banned Chinese academics from coming to the U.S. for master’s degrees in high-tech fields. As a result, many Chinese parents in Hong Kong are pulling their kids out of American schools on the assumption their children won’t be allowed to study in America anyway. So there will be fewer and fewer Asian students who might ever become Asian-Americans at all."

Totally fine with me.

Not a bad thing to be honest. Especially since Asians will always be marked as "foreigners" in America, it does not really make sense to come here on a permanent basis.

The "melting pot" idea is pretty much being thrown into the trash bin of history.

Did they even discuss H1B visa or Outsourcing? While Democrat senator reminded everyone of Gandhi & Nehru, Trump gave a bombastic speech against illegal immigration and putting America First. Bhakts gathered there didn't fit in any scenario !!
I would have welcomed any trade deal but nothing happened. Only chest thumbing for TV audience back home. Trump got an opportunity for Rally in front of a very different demographic.

yes it was more like an election campaign speech hitting the right notes - pakistan, development, multi lingual examples etc . Trump pretty much says teh same thing since 2014. It felt like Modi was canvassing for Trump for next years election. I am sure the percentage would go up and as many of the Indo-Americans dont favor H1b either.
