How in ANY way can ANYONE defend this sick man? Really Sotomayor!? He SHOULD suffer! Imagine what the poor child SUFFERED! Imagine how her family has SUFFERED!
I'd pull the switch myself.

She defended society. You know that Constitution that you guys seem to constantly be hauling out when it suits you? The eighth amendment, I know, it's six past the only one that matters, bans cruel and unusual punishment.
Justice is not supposed to be vengeance, it's the unwavering decision of society and enforcement of it's rules. Whether or not the scumbag deserves it (he most certainly does) additional pain beyond just death is cruel.
Doesn't matter how she justifies it. It's her action that matters. She defended a child rapist/killer.
She defended her opinion that the death penalty is obscene. Many Americsns share tis opinion including myself. Killing the killer unfortunately does not bring back the child. If it did, I'd be all for the death penalty.
No one should have the right to take the life of another outside of direct self defense.
