No, that's a fringe belief even among highly religious people. If that is a mainstream belief in your community then you live in a fringe community. You really need to move man. I don't care if your friends and family are there, these folks are living rent free in your head to the point of obsession and it ain't healthy. You gotta get out of Dodge. There's a whole wide secular country out there to explore. With job opportunities too so don't let that hold you back.
