Most conservatives believe the Second Coming of Christ is imminent and they will be raptured away soon anyways. That's a big aspect to their denial of climate science. First of all, they believe a changing climate was prophesied in the Bible as something that was to happen before the return of Christ. Secondly, they don't believe they will be here much longer anyways so they don't see a point in any kind of policy to combat climate change.

Certainly a good example and there are many others throughout history as well. The King James bible for instance was edited to make the monarchy look better. Anyone who doesn't think the bible is politicized is naive.

The bigger issue is how politics has changed the churches.

Politics has far more power and influence these days than religion. Duh. See the powers as they are.

Science is its own realm and own island; answerable to itself.

I am a Christian. I embrace science also. I just don't happen to believe that science supports "evolution," nor I do believe there is any science that proves or supports man caused "climate change." We all know that scientific data can be manipulated, and we know that those who wish to believe in "man caused climate change" have manipulated the data to "prove" their theory. They were actually caught at it. I guess you've forgotten that.

We've done a lot to clean up the pollutants of industry in the last century. Steel making and the generation of electricity from coal fired plants generate a fraction of the pollutants they once did. Automobiles are also far cleaner, and we haven't put lead in gasoline for many years. How is it that what we do today is affecting the climate?

The Left uses the "climate change" mantra to achieve political goals ...control of human behavior they don't like. It has nothing to do with the climate, in truth. But there are a lot of gullible people who buy into their scam.
Thus we are at an impasse.

Before the Bible was made available to the masses to read for themselves, the priest of the Churches told the people what God would have them to do. They controlled human behavior ... once people began to read and understand the teachings of the Bible, they called the priests out on their bs.

Science is not something that is available for everyone to understand. Unlike the Bible learning specifics would take time and so during that time only few can call the scientists out on their bs.

Good point here. Many evangelical churches have become de-facto political organizations dedicated to pushing right-wing authoritarianism masquerading as religion.

Thus the reason I don't belong to a Church.

The last time I visited one I asked for council with the Associate Pastor, who during the time in his office asked me for my full name and birth date.

Much has changed over the last 50 years ...

The fact that A guy like Donald Trump (who fails just about every tenet of Christianity there is) is so doggedly supported by evangelicals is pretty much proof of your statement.

Many people have a perverse craving for bias, hate, disunity, and division.

Politics has superseded religion as the ultimate mechanism for promoting division and hate. It's so easy now; no need to go to a special building ("house or worship", ha!), no need to learn scriptures and special jargon, no need to dress up, no need to lose your Sunday mornings, etc. It's so easy now! How lucky we are (wink).
