Those of you who think this problem is confined to the Catholic Church or that the Catholic Church should be shut down because of this need to get your head out of the sand. This occurs in all religions and all non-religious organizations. The biggest perpetrators are family members. Should we disband all families?
It is long past time for each church to have a monitor trained in spotting sexual abuse, with the church compensating the government for their employees cost. The priest should not be allowed around any child alone, a any time, and should be required to wear ankle bracelets with GPS tracking at all times.
If studies show the RCC pedophile rate drops 90% from its 6% of pop level for the nex 25 years, these safeguards should then be dropped.

The RC church problem of course is that the have actually kept detailed records. The age old custom has been to try and reform deviant priests. And priests are in short supply so the institution tries to salvage even when they should not.
Other organizations will not have the problem simply because no records are kept. Virtually all handled by informal means with no formal record. Force the perpetrator out but don't get otherwise involved.

Kindly cite the statistics that the RCC does worse than other organizations in dealing with perverts.
Perhaps you have the numbers for the YMCA? Or the Baptists? Or the Public Schools? Or the Private Schools? Or the Boy Scouts? How about the performance of the English orphanages? Or the Canadian First Nastion Schools?
It need not do worse. Tens of thousands of victims, now Pa priests doubling as kiddie porn producers. Having victims wear crosses to signal they are easy prey-that makes them "chicken hawks". It needs to stop. RCC is not interested. It has conspired to hide them, fought laws allowing victims time to report, etc.
