I'm thinking the door was closed but unlocked and she bumped it open and probably yelled something at the poor victim and within seconds started firing. Called 911 and turned on the lights and realized she was not in her apartment and went outside to see what apartment number it was.
The apartment doors automatically lock when closed.
If something was obstructing it, it could have been ajar. It doesn't even have to be all that obvious. A twig that stuck to a shoe, but fell when he entered his apartment could be caught on the edge of the door and prevent it from closing all the way. I'm not saying that this is what happened, just that doors that are supposed to shut automatically don't always shut completely. And a person might not notice if it was a small obstruction.
Well it's up to the jury now, they will have to sort fact from fiction.
Or, as in 12 Angry Men, they will have to "separate the facts from the fancy." Sorry, couldn't resist that. 12 Angry Men is fave movie, and I've just watched it for the 1000th time lol.
Many residents told NBC 5 they chose to live at the complex because they believed it was safe. They said keyfobs are needed to access each floor, but that doors do not automatically lock when closed.
This info is irrelevant unless she changes her story again.
