I saw it on the CBS news and she was absolutely incredible! Right on pitch and belted it out like an adult. Yet she is a little girl. I love hearing the national anthem but I hate it when they kill it (like some people do when they screech or warble all over the place or murder it like Roseanne did.)
Not that I equate good singing necessarily with being patriotic. In fact, it's very possible that she doesn't understand what she's singing. To patriotic people, great performances of our national anthem like this, warm our hearts. We are the patriots but she is a little girl--so I think maybe that's the message here. Not that the child is necessarily patriotic (although maybe she is) but that she has an excellent voice and uses it well to sing the Star Spangled Banner.
She's cute and can really belt it out. I'm sure it was a great moment for her.
