So the next step is a full investigation into these false accusations. I'm expecting we'll see everyone involved behind bars soon. Amirite?
The investigation (and there should be one) will be into who leaked the letter. No real accusation was made (for any practical purposes) until the Democrats forwarded Ford's letter to the FBI (September 13).
That did not happen until after the leak (Intercept, September 12). Feinstein had not even shared the letter with fellow Democrats.
Ford had been in some sort of contact with WaPo thru WhatsApp but that paper did not appear to have enough (or permission?) to break a story for the first reports were in the Intercept (September 12) then the New Yorker (September 14).
The Ford-sanctioned Wapo story came out on September 16.
Really, I find this mind-blowing not having really known the early details that well. Collins focused on the letter leak during speech - and she is RIGHT.
Ford had been in contact with Leland and may well have known that Leland couldn't confirm ... why hope that Judge would have? What pushed this over the edge was the leak.
But then there are those who do not find fault with the way Trump presents himself. And do not see anything wrong with the way people behave at Trump's rallies.

This is one case with one self-declared victim who accused one man. You and others want to believe her because what she alleges does happen to women. There's nothing in this case to make her story credible. If you want payback for all the violence against women, Kavanaugh was a good target because he's a privileged, white, conservative, presumably biologically male and cisgender. Who cares about his reputation and family.
Look, this whole thing is becoming really dangerous! If they decide to overturn Roe v. Wade, can you imagine what will happen in this country? Women will find terrible ways to have abortions and probably even die! Do conservatives really want that?
I think that's what it's going to take to wake up people in this country.
