Instead, technology has been marshaled, if anything, to figure out ways to make us all work more. In order to achieve this, jobs have had to be created that are, effectively, pointless. Huge swathes of people, in Europe and North America in particular, spend their entire working lives performing tasks they secretly believe do not really need to be performed. The moral and spiritual damage that comes from this situation is profound. It is a scar across our collective soul. Yet virtually no one talks about it.
Why did Keynes' promised utopia—still being eagerly awaited in the '60s—never materialise?

"It's as if someone were out there making up pointless jobs just for the sake of keeping us all working. And here, precisely, lies the mystery. In capitalism, this is precisely what is not supposed to happen"

The problem is NOT the "liberals" its the whole system. THINK you can do it !

Get out of the box for a minute PLEASE. My link is not the end all answer but read and think.
Yikes.

The default position of humanity is poverty, and wealth generation is the only reason way out of it. Wealth is generated through capitalism. Wealth generation is hindered by state interference in the economy.

If we want to live like people did in the 1930's, 1940's, 1950's... we could probably survive on 15 hours a week. The thing is, people want modern luxuries, and that's why they work more and earn more. It's no vast conspiracy.

Yes, technology definitely allows us to get work done more easily, meaning we don't need to work as many hours. But...what actually happens is that people continue to want more, and to improve their lives, so they keep working. If you can work 40 hours a week and make twice as much as you would if you worked 20 hours, most people will do it.

If everyone volunteered to pay taxes, nobody would pay taxes! lol. That's why we have government and laws, to make sure everyone pays their fair share.
So forcing everyone to pay for things they don't want to pay for is...good?

If you don't want to pay for roads, schools, safe drinking water, security, and thousands of other things that make civilization possible...you might be happier living on your own tiny island.

The funny thing is I am going to be paying more in taxes then before the cut. The Standard just does not work for me.

Saw it happen here in NC took a couple of times of correction to get it to even from before the cut.

I'm a conservative who supports low taxes but I donate a lot of my own money to causes like church food banks, Christian organizations, etc.

But let's say liberals are even given a choice in their tax returns where they can donate specifically to help illegal aliens, or a fund just for Planned Parenthood or to just fund abortion. Would they donate?

Probably not. Like the old saying goes, liberals are generous with OTHER people's money!
Isn't speculation a fun game to play? Don't even start about liberals being generous with other people's money. Dems aren't in power right now and we are running some of the highest deficits ever. So don't even.

So if there was an option for YOU to pay extra taxes beyond what you owe, would you???

What makes you think liberals are the ones paying taxes, let alone "extra taxes" in the blue states?
