Trump cancelled WW1 ceremony...because it was raining. (best, Republicans, great)

He's in mourning for his lost wall and too feeble to brave the weather, or anything else. Actually, some of the photos of this trip show him as totally out of it. Melania is glaring at the photographers either protectively on his behalf of because she doesn't want to be seen with him. Either way it's sad.
The ceremony was commemorating the Battle of Belleau, which shaped a new Marine Corp. Trump should have attended.
I thought the reason he skipped it is because of his hair and makeup. He apparently didn't even come up with an excuse.
“It’s incredible that a president would travel to France for this significant anniversary — and then remain in his room watching TV rather than pay in person his respects to the Americans who gave their lives in France for the victory gained 100 years ago tomorrow,” David Frum, who served as a speechwriter to President George W. Bush...
...“There is always a rain option. Always,”... “Trump will use the U.S. military for a pre election political stunt but sits in his hotel instead of honoring those who fought and died for America...”
...“Real low energy, @realDonaldTrump to not bother to honor the sacrifice of American soldiers in WWI due to some rain. Somehow everyone else was able to do so today. Obama never had this problem. He also visited our troops in war zones,” Kelly Magsamen, who served as a high-ranking Pentagon official on Asia affairs, wrote on Twitter... "
This is what the White House has said:
1. Scheduling and logistical difficulties caused by the weather.
2. Security concerns in "hastily" arranging a motorcade with (and who this is isn't clear) someone pointing out that "similar" concerns preventing Trump from reaching the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea by motorcade.
Now to compare a drive along the Korean demilitarized zone to a Parisian highway strikes me as a bit of an apples and oranges comparison. And the "hastily arranging a motorcade" is confusing for Trump was already IN a motorcade for the 15 minute drive through the heart of Paris from the Palace to the Paris Heliport. There were no contingency plans in place to continue that drive out into the countryside? Or ability to plan ahead for rain and fog in Paris is hardly an unknown event?
If that's the case, then this should be about far more than a missed ceremony.

Yep, I think something else is up. A contingency plan would have been in place.
Not sure quite what's up, but either Trump had an unexpected health problem, or his dementia is far worse than we've been led to believe and he was irrationally stubborn and insisted on staying away, or there was a serious security concern that is now resolved, since he's back on schedule, more of less.
I don't think this was just about the rain - unless that is connected to dementia-related stubbornness and unreasonableness that led to Trump insisting on staying away (because he was miffed at Macron and or Trudeau??). The rain is just too poor an excuse and it surprises me that the Secret Service or Trump's PR couldn't have come up with a more convincing reason.
What is really worrisome is if it was dementia-related irrational stubbornness, what does that portend for our future? Who's minding the White House store, if Trump is that far gone?
Trump's refusal to walk short distances with the other leaders at the later Arc de Triomph ceremony may be related to this, one way or another: either a physical problem or something more significant mentally. At least he did show up there...

Reliance on PR is a sign of weakness.
Trump has always been the opposite of weak, because he does what he wants.
Trump is the only legit leader in the world, because he's not a sheep.
The rest of them are sheep, and they are owned by PR.

I so wish we had a nice intelligent Scottish sheep dog instead...a real leader, who can figure out what's going on well in advance of anything happening.
Well-mannered, too. Trump is half Scots, but that's the only resemblance, sadly.
Those "real leaders" are just figureheads and sheep compared to Trump.
Attending ceremonies is all they're good for.
Trump is the opposite of a sheep.
None of those world leaders have impacted the world as much as Trump.
Wow, that is one heck of a spin you put on in Trumps defense. That actually made me dizzy.
He visited an American cemetery outside Paris at precisely the moment that Macron, Merkel and other dignitaries were opening a peace forum where the French leader again sounded the alarm about crumbling international harmony as he ruminated about the legacy of the morning’s commemorations.
While praising France for “a wonderful two days,” Trump described his rainy stop at the American cemetery at Suresnes as “the highlight of the trip.”
On Saturday, Trump drew criticism for canceling a separate commemorative visit to the Belleau Wood battleground northeast of Paris because of rain.
