Yay, December! Time for the War on Christmas posts! What color is the Starbucks cup this year? Did the Walmart greeter say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas?" Did someone hand you a gift wrapped in paper that didn't have Santa or Jesus on it? OH NO!!!
Why would it matter to you, OP? The only media sources that conservatives trust are Fox News, Breitbart, and Rush Limbaugh, so you would never listen to a Cleveland radio station in the first place. Besides, if you are angry about the song being banned, start your own radio station. You can play the song 24-7 if you want. The beauty of free speech means the press gets to choose what NOT to play/print as well.
The song's always had a bit of a creepy vibe, but I like the melody.
When I was younger I thought the Santa in "I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus" was supposed to be the daddy in a costume. Who would write a song about a kid catching his mom cheating on his dad and then say it would be a laugh for dad to walk in and catch them? Sounds like a Jerry Springer episode in the making. Or a Maury paternity test.
They say that the “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” cartoon is “problematic” as well. Attacking every one of our traditions.
I always hated the Rudolph special. Santa is such an a-hole! Rejects Rudolph because he looks different but then expects him to jump and serve once he needs him.
Even thirty years ago, I thought the song was creepy. It belongs to another time and place, so let's please leave it there. Furthermore, the song has nothing to do with Christmas even though the OP wants to present it as much. It's about a guy hoping to get lucky.
Whoever thought this was Christmas music needs to get out more.
If this is offensive, they better not be listening to any old blues.
Or newer stuff like Eilen Jewell "One of Those Days". she just gotta gun.
Or half the blue grass or country that's been sung or played.
