89,000 police officers would be on duty across France and armored vehicles would be deployed in the capital - the first time since 1968.

In addition to the poor folk asked to pay exorbitant fuel prices for climate change, it looks like the protesters now include high school students opposed how the school leaving certificate will be graded because they believe it will breed inequality and limit opportunity.

Explain to me again why the libs love Macron when he pursues policies hurting the lib's constituency.

Was that the video with people chanting in English and UK police in the background?

Honestly, how can people be so damn dumb as to fall for that?

Indeed.

Marine Le Pen wonders if Macron will be the first to turn his nation's guns against his own people.

No. He won't be the first if he does.

Nope. I just read history. It's all there in black and white if you care to do the same.

The French willingness to go to blows with each other is the reason why they had 2 revolutions to our one , beginning back in the late 1700s. It's also the reason that allowed Napoleon to seize the government for himself in between the first and second revolutions.

Hardly an excuse if he does now. It means he's lost control of his own country.

Ahh. So you say you are 100% correct, because you believe you are 100% correct.

Well hell; isn't this stupid thread predicated upon some idiot presuming to speak for them by suggesting they adore a flacid dumpling?

My mom is French and she always told me growing up that the they don't take sh%t from anyone. They go out into the streets to protest en masse, and yes it does get violent....but that's normal. Trump's minions are not used to seeing patriotism in action, they were always taught that patriotism involves plastering bumper stickers all over your vehicle and calling it a day.

Don't be obtuse. I read history is all. And history says the French like to fight each other violently in the streets over politics every once in a while.

There's nothing in that that is either 100% correct or incorrect.

All I'm saying is the French tradition of demonstrating is more violent than ours. And it is, as history shows.

But that's not to say the USA has not had it's share of violent demonstrations. Our violent demonstrations are just less common than the French's demonstrations. Neither nation has ever had frequently violent demonstrations, and there are many in both that are not.

But when things get hot and tense over a period of time, for a fact, the French are quicker to throw up the barricades and pitch rocks at each other.

Read any French history book and it's right there. or you can continue on in blind faith that I'm wrong and you're right. It makes no difference to me.

I don't know if Macron has lost control of his own country or not. Maybe he has, maybe he hasn't. Only time will tell.

Video and article today about Macron rolling over

In addition to the year-end bonus, during the national address from the Elysee Palace Macron announced an increase in the minimum wage of €100 per month; a tax exemption on overtime pay; and a plan to not raise taxes on pensioners with an income less than €2,000/month.

When the same issues happened in Venezuela, Maduro followed a similar plan… things didn’t end well. Macron has already committed the full weight of his police and military to crush any uprising.
