From an excellent article written by a former WH chief of staff who went through a previous prolonged govt shutdown.

1. Harming people never works.
2. The more you blame others, the more the public blames you.
3. Negotiations are impossible without trust.
4. Never negotiate in public.
5. If the president fails, Congress must lead.

It's a good read.

And the biggest one... people realize they can get by and manage without much of what government does.

So true
And to point one: "Harming people never works"
What is govt but a violent entity that robs the many to provide for a few

Democrats, in the form of Leon Panetta, are feeling the burn. Now, all of a sudden, they feel the need to lecture us all about the need for negotiations. They didn't feel that way during the Obamacare cramdown, but now suddenly it is the wise thing to do.

Fail. I don't care if the closed portion of the government never gets funded.

It's practice for a permanent shutdown.

It's a good read.

Leon Panetta wrote exactly the same thing in the Washington Post each time the Obama Administration had a Government Shutdown. This one is not even a full Shutdown the way it was for Obama ..... Never a budget in his entire term - just a series of Budget resolutions.

One of the most disgusting things about the Leftists is their constant lecturing and amnesia about their own actions. If it wasn’t for Double Standards, they would have NO Standards at all.

This article has clearly struck some nerves.

Panetta has a very extensive resume of govt service in both congress and high administration positions. He knows of what he speaks.

Ignore his input at your peril.

Now there's a place to get money for border security ... which we really do need! Even the Dems. know the government is rife with bureaucratic fraud, waste, overreach and meaningless, profit-draining regulations. At least Trump has started to do something about the latter. Do we really need almost a million bureaucrats and career politicians to "take care of us?"

(From the beginning, Thomas Jefferson said, "Watch out for government bureaucrats who take your money under the pretense of 'taking care of you.')

Has a President ever had a more obstructionist Congress than President Obama? Here you are, complaining, about your party obstructing for 8 years, and blaming President Obama for it.

Here's a hot take: You can't have it both ways.
