Really happy that Trump lost this.

I would even be for negotiation and compromise around border security and wall, but I think it's important to send a message to Trump and the GOP that selective financial terrorism against American families is not a viable strategy whenever you can't get your agenda passed through Congress.

The Republicans will not allow another shutdown. McConnell knows this was pointless and costly, and ultimately, harmful to the party and he said as much. Trump won't get a second bite at that apple.

Pelosi said in the press conference that they were going to take steps to make sure this doesn't happen again. Maybe there will be something in the compromise that will preclude him from shutting it down again. That would be priceless.

Well, as much as they can get into the ground in the hours it will take for the suits to be filed. Good luck with that.

No, this was a total and complete capitulation by Trump. He may not realize it yet, but he basically gave up the wall today.

Perspective is a funny thing.
Democrats didn't shut down the government when they didn't get their way. ACA was passed through Congress - you know, the way these things are supposed to happen, not through shutdowns and hostage taking. The Democrats are stand up folks mainly because they stood up to they horrible tactic.

Those who think they will shutdown government in 3 weeks are dreaming, after this fiasco they will not be shutting down again.

Default You think President Trump just lost?

You'd be wrong! If this is what you think then you haven't been paying attention.

This is OPTICS...Trump knows that, just as in every other instance, the Dems will think they have their way and have won. They will now feel even more powerful to reneg on wall negotiations as expected. Remember this reopening is temporary. Trump will not get the Dems to negotiate...he doesn't expect to but will seem like he's exasperated at trying.

That's when he will pull out the big guns, exclaim a national emergency at the SOTU address and show that he's done everything he could to negotiate with the spoiled brat dems and that he now has no other choice.

Enjoy the show...MAGA!

Sometimes the only appropriate response to a post is just to laugh. This is one of them. Thanks, OP, laughter is good for body and soul.

I don't know what will happen but I find it quite humorous that Team Red can't admit this was a defeat and Team Blue can't admit the war isn't over (we have threads on Trump resigning ).

You folks are really entrenched in your little political game, aren't you?

Pretty sad really. Your glorious leader somehow found a way to mess up even worse than last time and your take is basically let's pretend Trump is playing a deeper game.

Don't you get it yet? Trump is not playing 3 dimensional chess, he is not even playing checked, the fool is exactly what he looks like.

Trumps shut down fractured the RS and United the Dems better than we could have ever hoped. Instead of Dems arguing over appointments and committee seats they are now one party, one leader with one goal.

You are free to believe whatever BS you choose, but Trump once again made all the wrong moves.
