" Why is it suddenly an emergency? "

Not exactly sudden, but more like building up to a boiling point. You have more waves of people with minors. You have people even violently crashing Mexico's southern border, this was new and different. As the facilities filled up, McConnell said they would address it after the election. It's urgent, but because of our politicians, from both sides, it had to wait a few months.

Take your tinfoil hat off. Everyone knows that we need better security in the South but building a wall won’t help, not when they are tunneling under it.

Trump has you all believing that there’s a horde of people don’t there trying to take this country over. There’s not.

Obama smartly got to work right away on Obamacare and (granted he had much better numbers than Trump) got it done with only a minor power move using a questionable method after Ted Kennedy died to get it through.

Trump waited until his numbers were worse to make a strong push. Even though we all know the incumbent party usually does worse in midterms.

It isn't an impending emergency...he just wants to circumvent congress, because he hadn't been able to get it through congress.

Now if Trump runs for reelection, Democrats will point out that he didn't build that wall and Mexico didn't pay for it.

You have a president who has learned he lost the midterms, is desperate to nourish the myth of his infallibility with his supporters and needed a last ditch effort to sustain the fanciful wall as a way to appear strong to them. In short you have a fearful president who does not understand his role/job.

The Wall, of course.

But even more than that, sending more military troops, more national guards, more police, coast guards and border patrol agents, more drones, more tunnel sensors, etc. Whatever it takes to make sure there is close to zero possibility that illegal foreign nationals can cross the U.S.-Mexico border ever again.

Meanwhile a poll shows that 51% of Americans blame Trump for the government shutdown. Trump is losing this battle.

There was no emergency. Trump lost his temper after he was taunted by a couple of pundits on the radio and became impetuous.
This is an emergency now that never needed to happen.

It's what comes from electing a business man who can't understand he's no longer running a business. A hard lesson for us, but a good one if it is never repeated.

RUBBISH.

Every REAL metric shows the BORDER security PUT IN PLACE over the last 18 years has worked extremely well.

Let me restate that for ya.

IT WORKED.
Bush circa 9/11 saw the need to greatly improve border security. He did. Obama increased it further.
GO google charts showing apprehensions (etc) over the last couple of decades it FELL OFF A CLIFF.

(assuming you did the right thing and researched it )

So now YOU know Elan, You know, Bush and Obama pretty much took care of this and our big problem now is in fact VISA OVERSTAY and not illegal crossings.
Funny thing is i know you guys will keep saying the same stuff, because you guys are NOT interested in facts, you just love the drama trump creates. I would guess about half of you wall people are just racists, another half poorly informed and yet another half a mix of both. Hopefully now that you are informed you will spread the word to other "wall" people and explain to them Trump has tricked you guys with his lies.
