I just like to think of all those women Soviet snipers during World War 2 who curbstomped a bunch of fascists true heroes in my book.

Shooting someone and fighting hand-to-hand are two different things. A paralyzed person could shoot and kill Mike Tyson, but that does not mean the person could beat him in a fight.
I've personally seen women beat the **** out of men and win even with the guy fighting back, so I don't think women being portrayed as strong is all that unrealistic.

As I mentioned earlier, it is just movies, lol.
But fact is most of the time the man will have the advantage, this is seen about every single time from domestic abuse, to rape, to general violence. That is not at all saying there are not plenty of women that can inflict the same, but speaking to just the general, average population, if you take any random guy and put him against any random girl, there is a high probability the guy will win in a hand-to-hand fight, winning by meaning she gives up, knocked out, submits, whatever we want to call winning.
