Trump would be better off holding a rally in a football stadium in Dallas Tx. or other stronghold. He could have jets flying over, tanks rolling around, a rock band blaring the national anthem, fireworks, and a huge banner that read "America is Great again". Mc-Donalds could air-drop Mc-Rib sauce on the audience and sop it up with chicken nuggets and fries like the Clemson lunch. MAGA
In all seriousness I cannot believe he hasn't done this, the Super Bowl of politics. I think liberals would tune in to see that show, minus the whole raining sauce on people part.
I hope you are paying for the show as well--because if the RNC won't pick up the tab--would never happen.
People want an actual president--not some guy who spends his life holding rallies and campaigning for his next election.
The gathering you describe sounds worse than the real the Superbowl.
Trump needs to do two things.
1. send a note to the house on the state of the union (its a constituational requirement)
He should write it on a used napkin. It should say "the union is pretty good except the House is infested with idiots"
that's it. along with some ketchup stains.
then he needs to hold a rally in the biggest stadium he can find and fill it with supporters. and deliver a rousing Trumpian speech that decries the crazy lefts crazy stuff.

His speeches are always about the same. We've heard it all before.
SOTU is all just political posturing. When it's a dem POTUS, all dems stand and cheer while all repubs sit quietly. Vice versa for a republican president.
SOTU doesn't carry nearly the weight it used to30 years ago, before 24/7 news channels, Twitter, etc.
Dem viewers won't watch if it is just Trump. Ratings are of crucial importance to the Ego of Donny. Low viewer rating will make him look even weaker than going it alone for the SOTU. We all know the SOTU anyhow. Broken.
Can you see Pence sitting behind him all by his lonely clapping and jumping up and down.
I think it would be extremely refreshing to see the President give this speech in the oval office, with no one present but him, and the tv cameras.
No stupid interruptions by useless clapping.
The state of the union speech should be done in a setting like the oval office.
Get rid of the stupidity of a large, crowded room, full of polarizing factions, and have the speech where it belongs, right in the office of the President of the united states, the elected representative of the people.
Trump needs to be invited. Whether Pelosi has done that is not clear.
Or he can send them a written summary.
She invited him on January 3, 2019 -- the day she ascended to Speaker of the House.
He immediately accepted her invitation.
A joint Resolution by the House and Senate is a formality and always happens later.
Nancy took back her invitation ...... the First time in History that a Speaker has done so.
Ball is now in her court .... will she lock the doors to the US House?
She doesn't have the power to lock the doors to the US Capitol.
One can only guess what Trump's plan is.
If I did it in Washington I would hold it in The House chamber, count on Dems to protest by not attending, and invite interested Senators to attend.
Scowling faces need not attend.
But I would prefer that it be held in Houston, making it one of the the biggest political rallies in history.
Cowboy Stadium is better ..... and bigger.
And available - no events all next week.
