The bar isn't necessarily that high, it's more that the abject servitude of the GOP majority Senate (and previously GOP controlled House) is that low. They didn't bother to actually investigate and instead had people like Devin Nunes acting as an arm of the Trump administration rather than the chair of the Intel committee. I'm not saying with certainty that they would have found sufficient evidence to impeach, just that they didn't even bother to look.

Trump will never be impeached for election finance violations, tax evasion, obstruction of justice or other soft crimes.

If Mueller produces hard evidence of a conspiracy to hack the election with the Russians, then impeachment would be on the table. And yes, there would be a reasonable chance the Senate would vote to remove (it only takes 20 out of 52), assuming Trump's poll numbers are 30 or lower.

Yep. It's better for Dems if he hangs himself rather than be branded a martyr. Trump will forever make the Republicans look bad.

Agreed. That has been my take all along. We could see an outcome of the investigation that is simply unacceptable and indefensible.

Trump will never be impeached no matter what Mueller's report says because the Senate Republicans will never vote to impeach him.

Are you joking? I know of at least two who would vote to impeach: Romney and Sasse (if he's still there).

Romney may be an idiot at times, but he knows the backlash he would face if he were to vote to impeach. He would have to change his party to Democrat.

From what i'm reading you are incorrect. It takes a Super majority [2/3] of the senate to convict him and remove him from office.
