So they came up with as many counts as possible to entice him into a plea deal where they'll reduce it down to one or two counts.

The question is - will his ego / attorneys let him agree to a deal?
Wait. It was a grand jury that came up with the charges. They are not involved in plea deals.

That would be terrorism charges right? Sending a white powder though mail?

Ouch, at this point would be smart to take a plea.

True. After this he will most likely plead not guilty and sometime between that and an actual trial, I'm guessing the prosecutor will see if he wants to accept a plea deal. It's something like 90 - 95% of cases never make it to trial because the defendant agrees to a plea deal.

So what do you think he'll do when it gets to that point? I think he and his legal team will go to trial, saying he was victimized by the CPD.

He's such a narcissist who knows what he'll do?
Q....lolol.

I think he'll cry all the way to trial. Too cocky to accept a plea deal.

Lawyers have ways to get a client to accept a deal. Specifically they'll threaten to resign as counsel if he plans to take the stand, since no reputable lawyer will lead his client, on direct, through perjurious testimony. That usually forces the issue.

Or immunity agreements.

This isn't like 90-95% of cases. Smollett has single handily shown up the entire leftist establishment elite as hypocrites in the worst way possible. This includes TV news celebrities, Hollywood, the MSM and numerous very powerful Democrat politicians. They have 0 tolerance for this.

IMO, given what he did, I'm thinking there is no way the CPD and the Cook country DA's office can get away with giving Smollett a slap on the wrist. So no deals. If he had been successful in the reprehensible scam, a lot of innocent people would have gotten hurt.

From the prosecutor's point of view trials risk acquittals, especially in urban Chicago. Remember the OJ trial? I believe he was innocent but you won't find too many other liberal white Jews who think he was.

I think he'll get about 6 months, maybe 10, but what do I know about how they do things in Illinois? Maybe that's just what I think he deserves.
