I recently took one of those ancestry tests that are now so popular. I am white but my test came back that I am a small % African .4% Nigerian. Can I now put African American on forms that ask for my race? Do you think more people will start to do this as more people take these tests? There is the thing called the one drop rule where if you have one drop of black blood you are considered black. Wouldn't that mean I am black?
Is this a serious question or are you just trying to be funny? Do you see a black man looking back at you when your look in the mirror? No offense but Americans in general ask some of the dumbest questions when it comes to race just based on the comments I read on this forum.
Yeah, I know....They'll revert to their favorite comment on evolution... "If humans came from monkeys, then why are there still monkeys"
Depigmentation was the result of a beneficial mutation for adaptation to northern latitudes and diet and some natural selection played a role if that's what you mean be evolved than you are correct.

When you get down to 1% or less it is just as likely you don't actually have that at all. The equivalent of statistical noise...or a false positive. Do you have a "paper trail" of any distant African ancestors?
If you really think about it, didn't everyone come from Africa, if you go back tens of thousands of years, so in a way everybody is African, lets all sing Kum ba yah, we're all one big dysfunctional family!
Marketplace host Charlsie Agro and her twin sister, Carly, bought home kits from AncestryDNA, MyHeritage, 23andMe, FamilyTreeDNA and Living DNA, and mailed samples of their DNA to each company for analysis.
Despite having virtually identical DNA, the twins did not receive matching results from any of the companies.
is the one drop rule not considered valid anymore? i remember it used to come up from time to time
What do you think it's going to get you? By all means claim whatever ancestry you choose but there are no federal or state laws giving your preference because of race, and you may find that claiming that you are black works against you.
