Its the move to the right that has created this mess!

Capitalist Compartmentalized governed collectivism is our nations success story.
Get used to it!
It is the indoctrinated Socialist ideology of cutting out the bells and whistles in an attempt
to cause a catastrophic failure of our Western Civilization that is the true failure.
Socialism has killed more human beings in this last century than mosquitoes and like all
pesky insects must be eradicated.

God Bless America!

Most of Europe is much poorer than the USA with very low average wages and we are seeing great dissatisfaction in Europe with nations such as Sweden lowering taxes to improve their economy. Their protections have resulted in a stagnant Europe with little opportunities for advancement.

If that's the model our young want, then so be it, you will be much poorer so don't come crying to me about it.

You are right. I have very little cash because I convert all my disposable cash into gold which I actually hold, not some piece of paper. There is very little money in any bank.

You're choice America. My great grandparents came to this country seeking a better way of life. I accept the possibility that I may have to do the same in my life. Thankfully, I invested in developing a useful skill set that is in demand in every developed nation, and commands a respectable, living wage. If others did the same, they wouldn't have to whine to the government to deliver socialism. They could simply trade their labor for a living like a normal person who is not a wimp.
Exactly! Even if getting a 4 year degree became free of charge, who would even bother to put in the work knowing that once you graduate and get the nice engineering job, they take away all your earnings? You could sit around in your pajamas living in your parents basement and play video games for 4 years instead knowing that the "system" will pay your way!

Socialism rewards the lowest common denominator! So what's the use of busting your behind to succeed?

I think socialism has turned into an excuse for lazy millennials to remain lazy and be rewarded. Why would anybody with half a brain want to participate?

It also is true that the Scandinavian countries have been moving somewhat right-ward in recent years. For example, Denmark has in recent years been trying to increase incentives to work.

With little fuss or political protest — or notice abroad — Denmark has been at work overhauling entitlements, trying to prod Danes into working more or longer or both.
Both Denmark and Sweden have been moving towards more restrictive immigration to prevent 'safety nets' from being overwhelmed. Norway has always had strict conditions on immigration; for example, all are required to learn the Norwegian language.

I agree.

In my experience, you learn by doing. Humans can be lazy, and this laziness causes us to avoid work. But by avoiding work, we are missing opportunities to learn by doing. Success alludes those who lack the experience and expertise necessary to accomplish tasks in a timely fashion, regardless of the system in place. If we become socialists, and a nation of lemmings, success will allude our nation, instead of just some individuals that didn't try.

A 4 year degree does not guarantee a degree holder will be productive, efficient or beneficial to a nation or company, which is why a college degree is no guarantee of future earnings or success.

The Nazis:
Not only did the Nazi conduct the most horrific genocide known to mankind they
also corralled non contributing members of then society never to be heard from again.

You believe those nations represent socialism? They don't. They have mixed economic systems, similar to the USA. They operate in the free market, and are subject to changes that occur in the free market. These nations belong to the EU, which may represent a greater push for socialism, but I don't think they really know how to get there. So, they bumble around aimlessly, waiting for someone or something to make a change. Yet the changes that have been happening are not for a greater socialist movement. Many nations in the EU are pulling away from that direction, because the results delivered so far left much to be desired. Just ask the people of France.

While Europe is bumbling around aimlessly, let's hope a Hitler doesn't pop up and tap into the anger and frustration that is pent up. Not sure why anyone here would want to be like Europe. Read a history book...

Democratic socialism is a bunch of slave owners and a few slaves vote to decide who is going to work and who is going to rake in all the benefits.
