There interests should certainly matter they just shouldn't matter more. The Electoral College is antiquated relic that the founders put in because they were suspicious of democracy. Times change and I think its time every vote should count and not be weighted in favor of rural interests. One person one vote!

Big blue states like NY and California still get a huge say in the election.....so much so that probably many Conservatives in these states don't even bother to vote.

They don't care….all they know is the orange man is bad, the queen was denied her throne, and 200+ years of our system doesn't matter. They want to win all of the elections from here on out.

What you fail to understand is the left doesn't think anyone at any time is important. the left in this nation and in every other nation, see only their will as important.

They certainly matter more than they would /should of looking at the relative populations and how it differ in a simple one person one vote setup. The system at the moment is rigged to give smaller states more of a voice than they would otherwise get, that's true of the electoral college and even more so of the senate.
The concept is brilliant for suppressing the people yes I agree. Times change though people don't like being suppressed forever. Thats why we have things like the civil rights act and minimum wage laws.
The current system allows you to vote with your feet if you don't like the way your state is run.
..........move to another state that's more to your liking..
Do away with the electoral college and that goes away.
Not the ability to move.......but the differences in one state to the next that make up their individuality that make it worthwhile to move.
