This is a laugh to me, because we are both fish out of water in our respective states, you a conservative living in a blue state, and me a liberal in a red state (though I'm from a blue state originally). I have the same view of Pubs as you do of Dems, and probably for the same reason
I'm a registered independent that leans to the Right and I will admit this that I did vote for Obama the first go around so I am flexible and I believe in voting for the best person for the job.
What really gets me is how pig headed the Dems are in my area. On the lead up to the election I saw Trump signs repeatedly vandalized while Hillary signs were left untouched. There are still signs up in peoples yards denouncing Trump yet a month after the election a man was told by the Police to take his Trump sign down. I have seen the trash talking, alarmist speak in the editorials of the weekly paper like so many snowflakes that believe Trump is going to destroy the planet as he does Putins bidding. I know people that cannot talk about politics without it turning into a shouting match. I have lost family and friends because I dared to admit that I like Trump and that I voted for him. The other night my wife and I went out with a Bernie Loving Trump hater and she brought up politics by saying Trump is guilty of collusion. I asked her why she felt that way considering the Mueller report and she didn't have an answer and I didn't pursue one in order to keep the peace.
I guess we silently agreed to disagree.
I just think it is ridiculous that adults cannot behave and have a talk about politics without it devolving into a fight. The thing is when Obama was in office we could talk all day long about politics but the Dems have lost their collective minds when it comes to Trump. So much for Tolerance.

I first hand learned how right wing the East Valley suburbs of Phoenix were when I was discussing the ridiculousness of the Clinton impeachment, how it was all over a question that never should have been asked (Clinton banging an intern has nothing to do with National Security); some conservative mom got all up in my face, first questioned my age, and basically said she thought Clinton should have been impeached because he was immoral (makes me wonder what she might think of tRump lol).
So conservatives around here can be pretty pushy and in your face as well
Civility is a nice sentiment — but it's harder to put into practice.
Take a contentious debate last year in the Maine House of Representatives over a proposal to ban conversion therapy — a discredited treatment designed to make gay people straight.
Republican state Rep. Roger Reed stood up to oppose the conversion therapy ban, calling it an attempt to "legitimize ... unnatural inclinations."
Immediately, that comment — a verbal attack on LGBTQ people — elicited shouts from members of the Maine House and a rebuke from House Speaker Sara Gideon, who called a 25-minute timeout so everyone could cool down.
In an interview recently, Gideon said that this was just one of several times she has had to call out inappropriate or uncivil remarks by members on both sides of the aisle.
I blame all of us, including Trump," Pouliot said. "When we don't pay attention unless somebody really makes some type of an obscene outcry, we're all to blame. And I think that oftentimes we want to blame political figures ... for the problems that we're seeing in government —
but our government is a function of what it is that we want."
Sell crazy someplace else, we're stocked up here. I'm a New York expat, and I only left because I wanted a drier sunnier warmer climate. If NY had California weather, I would have stayed
This is the kind of extreme partisan bigotry that the OP's topic was supposed to address. His points were reasonable. Extremely reasonable. You ignored everything he said and went for a personal attack.

Too late, continued degeneration, then some sort of civil-war, then onto Mad-Max.
I got my Cattle Dog. We are ready. (and, I'm afraid you are right about devolving. We cannot get our collective sh*t together, or so it seems). Stay safe my friend.
