Their money, their choice.

And giving half a billion for construction will produce something that will stand, hopefully, for a few centuries, while giving a few thousand to the starving folks down the street will result in giving two thousand the next day, three thousand the day after, etc, ad nauseum because making poverty profitable results in making poverty permanent.

BTW, how's the view from up on that horse?

Except there's an ongoing investigation and they are questioning people today. No conclusions were drawn yesterday that cannot be changed today.

after dummy Donald mentioned yesterday that helicopters should be used to drop water on the cathedral, France's Civil Security Agency, run by smart people, trolled the hell out of Teump, explaining why his suggestion is a dumb idea.

Not to make light of an obviously horrid event:

It is being said the fire fighters saved the historic stonework.

It comes to mind that a often repeated comment about fire fighters responding to old country structures and houses was "They always manage to save the chimney".

For the sake of France, I would think people would be hoping that this tragedy was the result of the restoration and nothing more.

Oh for God's sake, it's more than likely a construction accident. Stop with the fear mongering and wait for the reports.

The location has been a target of a Muslim terror attack just 3 years ago. With curious timing right before Easter its fair game to ponder what might have caused it.

If you want people to not to give their opinions about things here you might as well close the CD forum.

Somebody's got some explaining to do.

What supports those solid stone walls? Wooden buttresses, the famed flying buttresses. Which are burning.

The cathedral is a total loss, and will never be rebuilt.
The buttresses are stone.

Are you totally incapable of turning every topic, every thread into showing everyone how much you hate Donald Trump? I think you are.

/agree

No reason to assume that bad guys were behind what could very easily be error and/or negligence from construction work going on at the time.

We can attempt to fit the events to a foul play narrative, but facts and evidence do not support the foregone conclusion.
