They probably live closer to PA and I'm not sure of PA's abortion laws but I've read that they are very restrictive as well. If this girl was forced to go to MI, she and her guardian would have to stay there at least 2-3 days in order to get an abortion performed because MI like all other states have "waiting periods" and all these "consent" processes/procedures to where she could not just go and get it done the same day. These processes/procedures are designed to place burdens on women/families seeking abortion services.
And as you inferred, the restrictions really only impact the poor. No woman with money has ever had to worry about being able to get an abortion, she can readily find a doctor who will perform the abortion and call the procedure a D&C which is perfectly legal. And if the conservative Taliban put too much pressure on physicians who would perform an abortion, Canada has no restrictions on abortion.
That's been the case since the 60's when I was in high school and girls from well off families missed two days from school and came back magically un-pregnant and the poor girls were stuck marrying the 16 year old baby daddy or going to a home for unwed mothers, or worse..having their boyfriend kick them in the abdomen until they miscarry
This 11 year old child is a victim of sexual assault. The choice of what to do with the pregnancy is between the victim, her parents, and her doctors. It's my understanding that the Ohio law is circumvented in cases such as rape or incest.
In the case of rape, girls/women should not only be allowed to abort, but be obliged to.
I would not want to tell my child later on that he or she is the result of a rape.
Nor do I want the genes of rapists to spread in society.
Even if she doesnt want to acknowledge that, other people and couples out there would GLADLY take that child and raise it.
Aren't you the one who said on another thread recently that you think 14 year old girls should be allowed to marry adult men? Besides this and giving birth after being raped, but else do you think children should be forced or able to do?

Scary, isn't it? This is a perfect example of why I said earlier in the thread that I would not trust an 11-year-old child around some posters here. You have to wonder when they look at children what they're thinking. Very scary, indeed.

There are no exceptions for incest or rape in the Ohio law.
On this - yes it is a stretch. Masillon OH is not close to the border and it is not common that we have a lot of "illegal" immigrants in Ohio period.
One is too many.

No that's just something you made up in order to deflect from the horrible big government policies from the left.

Why work hard jobs when big government can buy your loyalty with welfare?

Strange how these laws don't account for the mental anguish suffered as if that isn't a threat.
The hurdle to clear is "medical emergency". You think the Ohio lawmakers give two hoots about her emotional state?
No, but they're ignorant then. An 11 year old would not bear the whole ordeal well, including afterwards being expected to care for a child when she's a child. Abuse and even a worse outcome to the child would not be unrealistic. Right, that law is simple minded at best, which is where we seem to be at w/ something like this.

It is not. Once the power-crazed "pro-lifers" start goading each other on towards the most uncompromising position they can find, this sort of bad lawmaking is the inevitable result.
