Pppffftt. Who cares? You take a dumb bomb, stick a laser seeker on the tip or a gps unit, some steerable fins and you have a smart bomb. Ridiculously easy to build.
Me thinks you are missing the underlying relationship here.

Saudi Arabia is interesting half the royal family wants to become a US friendly first world more liberal western type country the other(older) half wants to remain an Islamic fundamentalist country. They have good oil and spend a lot of money so we need to kind of keep it cordial with them. I’m still up in the air about them they’re like your sketchy cousin who you need to remain cool with but you keep your distance. Our common enemy in Iran also helps the relationship.

Bingo. So let's send them arms and smart bomb technology. What could possible go wrong?

So the United States should only build complex widgets? SMH
There are many countries in the ME that hate America and as far as Saudi Arabia goes at least they tolerate us.
I'd rather give Saudi the capacity to build smart bombs than give Iran the money and the means to build a nuclear bomb.
Which is more likely to use their bomb against us or an ally?
Selling to Saudi keeps them in the friend zone. Denying them would send them to other sources like Russia or China.
Is this even a serious opinion?

That poster doesn’t care because it’s Trump approving it.

So why doesn’t Trump just end our involvement in both?
