I cannot recall ever in the history of the world seeing bigger protests that the ones now taking place in Hong Kong. Here is a picture of the protests. Bloomberg is quoting estimates of 2 million people. Even if that is high, I have never seen more.

Quote:
About 2 Million People Rally in Hong Kong Weekend Protests

Hundreds of thousands of protesters massed in a sea of black as they marched through Hong Kong the day after leader Carrie Lam suspended a controversial extradition bill, calling on her to withdraw the legislation completely and resign.

Sunday’s crowds were significantly bigger than last week’s, with almost 2 million people taking part in the demonstrations, according to organizers, who said the side streets had been overflowing during the day. Last week they said the crowd hit 1 million, while police said 240,000 had taken to the streets.
Just for people who do not know, Hong Kong is part of the "One country, two systems" policy in China. In Taiwan, they are effectively a second country. But in Hong Kong, they have treaty arrangements that allows for supposedly democratic local elections of their leaders and passage of laws by their local government. But the Communist Chinese mainland government meddles incessently and is now making moved to effectively erradicate any real independence that Hong Kong has.

Last week, the Chicom's puppet leader Carrie Lam in Hong Kong tried to ram through a law that legalizes extradition of dissidents to mainland China, which would have been the end of any independence that Hong Kong may have had. Very admirably, the people of Hong Kong stood up and told their leftist overmasters to shove it and last week by many people's estimates, a million people were protesting in central Hong Kong.

In response, Carrie Lam came out an apologized and stated that she was going to "suspend" the proposal for the law for the time being. Even this was the biggest climbdown that Chinese President Xi Jinping has suffered to this day, although he may well have another one coming soon in his trade negotiations with President Trump.

In response to this announced "suspension," the people of Hong Kong have responded with rage, insisting that the law must be retracted completely and that "suspension" of the proposal is no acceptable and that Carrie Lam must obviously resign.

This is how you handle leftist totalitarian thugs. It is a lesson that we all need to keep in mind.

They are communists. The country is controlled by the communist party. If you want to get ahead in China among the elite establishment, you have to join the communist party.

Communists are leftists. They always have been and always will be. This where the Democrat left socialist dream ultimately ends. The utopian promises of free stuff and plenty and peace for all have never been delivered on anywhere, especially not in communist China.

The leftist collectivist ideology inevitably results in more centralized control, more tyranny and more oppression of the people.

It is really exciting to see the people of Hong Hong pushing back against this vile repressive regime. If there is some way that we can help them, I hope we will. You cannot help people who are not willing to accept responsibility to help themselves. Clearly here, these people are ready and willing to try to help themselves. I hope we will try to help them.

This sort of thing scares the Chinese government out of their wits. They can't put military control on it the way they can on the mainland. Hong Kong isn't Bejing. And the numbers coming out are quite significant. The Chinese government does not like not being able to just crush dissent under tank treads.

The song "Sing Hallelujah to the Lord" has apparently become the unofficial anthem of these protests in Hong Kong, along with the song "Do you hear the People Sing" from Les Miserable. There are a number of videos at the link below:

‘Sing Hallelujah to the Lord’ has become the unofficial anthem of the anti-extradition protest movement

Of course humanist leaders hate people uniting around a song like this, because it makes God the object of their worship, and not the state or the leaders of the state. This is also why many people here in this country hate Christians and Christianity as much as they clearly do.

Joshua Wong, who was a leader of a protest movement in Hong Kong when he was 17 years old, will apparently be released early from prison tomorrow.

Quote:
Hong Kong's Joshua Wong to be released from prison on Monday: Party

Joshua Wong, the student leader who became the face of Hong Kong's "Umbrella Movement" democracy protests nearly five years ago, will be released from prison on Monday, his party said late on Sunday (Jun 16). In a statement, Demosisto - the party he co-founded - said the 22-year-old activist would be released from Lai Chi Kok Correctional Institute at 10.30am (0230 GMT).

Wong was sent back to prison in May after he lost an attempt to quash a jail sentence over his leadership of the huge democracy protests he helped lead in 2014. His release comes as Hong Kong is rocked by another outbreak of huge protests, this time sparked by mass public opposition to a plan to allow extraditions to China.
Of course the communists are the source of the concept of "Political correctness," and just like Democrat left here in this country, they will accept no dissent, unless it is just so overwhelming that they cannot stop it.

Of course here in this country, we increasingly see people who voice protests and contradictory thinking censored off of large social media websites, physically attacked on university campuses, in restaurants and elsewhere. This kind of behavior is just straight up evil, as are the people who perpetrate it.

Is this what we really want our society to be like here in this country? I certainly do not. And I hope you do not either.
