As I ( barely) understand it, trans has nothing to do with sexuality and all to do with emotions. Easy enough for a parent to manipulate a young child’s emotions. In this case, sounds to me like mom may have created an issue to drive her husband nuts and/ or to bring attention to herself.
Many entering puberty are miserable. Seems as though some have decided their misery is because of the conflict between their assigned versus emotional gender. Some seek hormone therapy. And some seek surgery. Once the euphoria wears off, many are still miserable and some regret hormone therapy and surgery. Others seem at peace.
Then there’s the non-binary thing whereby identities are outside the gender binary or those who have fluid gender identities.
I am intolerant of kids minds being subjected to what is clearly brainwashing. It is child abuse.
.
Most of what people perceive as gender is cultural brainwashing that changes over time. Real men ( whatever that means) wore skirts, heels, wigs, make- up and so on. Nothing to do with their sexual orientation. Some cultures have and accept 3 genders, male, female and feminine male.
As it relates to the OP’s link, it sounds like mom may have created a gender dysphoria, where none existed for reasons that may have all to do with her desire for attention. The kid seeks to please. Then again, only the father was interviewed.
I have a friend who raises her son as a daughter, basically, dressing him up as a girl because this boy wanted to be a girl. My friend and her husband took this boy to a specialist (therapist) and I don't really know much details to share their story. Only thing I know is that the boy cannot receive the transgender therapy. He's only 8 years old.
I thought Actual hormone replacement therapy normally isn't started until 16, but at 12 the kid should either be on puberty blockers already or starting them soon.
That is pretty much all I know about this subject. My personal feeling about this is that seven years old is way too young to start a hormone therapy. The therapy will probably mess up their health. Very sad.
What does being a girl mean to a 7- 8 year old boy?
Wearing dresses? Growing out his hair? Being noticed and receiving special attention, at school?
It’s all superficial and relatively benign.
Hormone therapy and gender reassignment surgery on a minor is crazy stuff.

That makes more sense to me as to how it could work.
If they just take a puberty blocker at 11 or 12 that preserves the option to do transition if they want to until 16-18 when they can make that decision with more maturity. If they change their mind then they can go off the blockers at any point and still go through normal puberty.

What part of what that poster said was anti gay ? Personally, i have no issues with gay people, they are no different than anyone else. I don't even care about transgender, although it is a mental issue. Doesn't mean anything bad, it's just another illness that some humans get.
And what psychology and science is that based on, if you don't mind my asking?
I know that there is a lot of suicide among the LGBT. What makes that even more sad is if you see a suicide note that basically said "I was raised a member of an opposite sex/gender by preference of my parents. I just wanted to be a cisgendered kid."

You say it so flippantly like there are no adverse effects to puberty blockers.
