This is looking bad for Trump. I perceive these events as hurting his ability to get re-elected.
I don't believe so. Did you see all the Repubs backing his comments? This will be forgotten in a day. It always is. Today or tomorrow there will be something to distract. Trump's tactic.
Besides, GOPers love that they got Supreme Court nominees (maybe RBG will be done in a year or two), corp tax cuts, corp de-regulation, no new gun laws, abortion laws being upended, and minorities being placed in a subservient role in our society. They're happy like pigs in slop.
We all know that being racist is BAD. Trump said some things (and has said other things before) about race that his supporters agree with. Lots of other people are saying that these things are racist, but the Trump supporters don't think that THEY can be bad, so obviously this thing that Trump said, that they agree with, is not racist.
You know, if you define the word "racist" so narrowly that no one could possibly be that, then you are relieved of the burden of being a bad person. I suggest going back to look at dictionary definitions. Trump has decided that these four women must not belong in this country because they are critical of his actions, as though criticizing the president is equivalent to hating your country. (Lots of people criticized Obama. Did they all hate America? I doubt it.) Lots of us disagree with each other over policy. But telling people of color "Why don't you go back to your country" is racist because it assumes that, because they are non-white, THIS is not their country.
It assumes no such thing. There are lots of other Congresswomen "of color", even in the GOP. He didn't tell them all to "go back", did he? If it's about "color" then why not? What did these 4 have in common that separated them from most other women "of color"? Their ideology.
And they are not just critical of his actions, they are critical of this country's other political leaders, leading businesses, customs, laws, history, etc. Criticizing the president is not equivalent to hating your country but criticizing nearly everything about your country and it's institutions and it's history is hating your country.
This thread is full of opinionated hyperbole and really needs some facts.
President Trump did not name anyone in his tweets.
President Trump did not name any race in his tweets.
Islam is not a race.
Those freshman members of congress that are attacking the President are such hypocrites as they did specifically mention the white race, thus they are the racists.

Not really - they are critical of the President and that is the most important factor in his "go back.." to where you came from (Africa) criticism of them.
It's racist plain and simple and no different that Trump saying he couldn't get a fair court ruling because he had a Mexican judge or his Obama birther remarks or his Central Park 5 execution remarks - Trump 's history is full of such statements.
Time to call him out for what he is - a self serving racist.
Yeah right. Its never been used against the Irish, the Italians, Germans, Armenians, Greeks...
Trump should have added "some of whom" to come from.
But lets look at AOC in the context of person of color. Shes whiter than I am and more caucasian looking than most caucasians. Yet she parades around this POC label for some special status why? By implying, if not outright stating, "Im from Puerto Rico". While it is a territory of the US theres no doubt its a 3rd world cesspool.
In the end the real issue is their anti american rhetoric and behavior. Wasnt it AOC who said the USA was worse than Venezuela?
Democrats again think they will get somewhere with their stupid whining and false playing of the race card. We know damn well what Trump meant and he is right.
What nailed Trump on this, was his past behavior for being disrespectful of the 14th amendment combined with that well-known racist statement. Within that context, that's why there was outcry from educated Dems and Republicans. And as aside, the Nixon administration lumped all Hispanics as minorities.
You don’t have to bring up race to be a racist. If you spit on a group of people just because of their skin tone it doesn’t mean you aren’t racist because you didn’t say race before doing it. Goodness, this country does an amazing job of playing dumb to justify bigotry and hatred.
This perspective can also be 100% correct flipped the other way. Plenty of people think every bit of criticism must be racism in disguise. They convince themselves because that's what they want to believe.
