The timing of this is obvious, China is using this as a way to get concession in the trade war.

China will completely take over Hong Kong, we should not give up concession in the trade war for a very temporary pause in China's aggression in Hong Kong.

Sad but unsurprising.

China has changed from the Mao days of shoot first, but there is a limit.

Alarming for folks in Hong Kong. It doesn't surprise me at all. Except that it took this long. China will totally pacify Hong Kong. There's going to be a lot of people killed and the Chinese government doesn't care. Their soldiers will obey all orders without question and Hong Kong will be back in the fold.

The army will remain there possibly permanently and they will carry on. Take heed folks. This is what the left has in mind for the US.

They were clearly waiting until they could get their army lined up.

As for your contention that lefties are happy with this - no, we're not.

Nor do we want to see it here.

This wouldn’t be happening if it were still a British colony. By European colonists are the “bad guys”.

The pro-democracy protesters are not peaceful. Even in this country, force would be used to disperse protesters seeking to shut down interstates and other means of interstate/international transport, to include airports, which this group has done.

So, no, this group doesn't get any sympathy from me at the moment. And China is right to use force to clear them from the airport. But the force should be reasonable (tear gas, rubber bullets if they become violent, etc.).
