China is a rising empire and the USA is a declining empire. China has a monopoly on some rare elements that are used in advanced electronics, so I would tell the nation to stop texting and start talking to their neighbors. Guam and other Pacific territories are temporarily American for empire maintenance, so writing them off is a basic step. Maybe China would buy them. I would practice the art of the deal.

well...…….I know china makes the most pathetic Christmas tree lights known to man...………..
Obama did it right with TPP. TPP was the way to deal with China. It was one of the most important efforts of Obama's admin and offered a way forward in Asia that blunted Chinese hegemony. It was turned into a political football and sacrificed on the altar of ignorance in the 2016 election.
This...now inverted yield curve portending recession, stock market dropping like a rock, tariffs hurting American economy, and China a rising empire with a long term focus while America a declining one with short term outlook.

Rare earth elements are not that rare, this is actually an example of how they are manipulating markets. At one point the US was the largest producer. With the help of US regulations they monopolized the market by dumping a lot of product putting everyone else out of business.
They are not rare and there a plenty to be had. It just can't be done at the price China is putting those products at. Our own mines are shut down because they priced us out of doing it ourselves.
EXACTLY like Trump is doing. They only understand tough, real negotiations and CONSEQUENCES. They are liars and cheats, with no concept of "fairness" like the West has. None. Rub their nose in the dirt, and they will reluctantly comply, but it takes TIME.
I would say - lets trade just like humans have been doing for thousands of years...you know, what we are doing now....
so then you are good with US markets being wide open to china, while chinese markets are virtually closed to the US. you want manufacturing jobs to go to china, and you dont mind losing tons of oneyt o china every year.

the TPP was a rubbish deal, as were most of the trade deals the obama administration made. they were great for china, but not the US.
as has been stated many times, china needs us more than we need them. we can make everything china, and other asian contries make and import here, and do it more efficiently as well.
