Enjoy the cheap meat.
Yes, we should enjoy cheap meat.

National Geographic says you are wrong:

Phytoplankton need two things for photosynthesis and thus their survival: energy from the sun and nutrients from the water. Phytoplankton absorb both across their cell walls.

In the process of photosynthesis, phytoplankton release oxygen into the water. Half of the world's oxygen is produced via phytoplankton photosynthesis. The other half is produced via photosynthesis on land by trees, shrubs, grasses, and other plants.

Today phytoplankton and terrestrial green plants maintain a steady balance in the amount of the Earth's atmospheric oxygen, which comprises about 20 percent of the mix of gasses, according to Frouin.

A mature forest, for example, takes in carbon dioxide from the atmosphere during photosynthesis and converts it to oxygen to support new growth. But that same forest gives off comparable levels of carbon dioxide when old trees die.

Tropical rainforests have wet seasons and dry seasons.
Most conservatives I know are very environmentally conscious. However, there is a huge difference between CONSERVATION of the environment versus rabid calls for trying to fix the hoax of man made climate change with more tax dollars and penalties for fossil fuel energy use.

We recycle, we conserve energy, don't litter, and many donate to charities, and buy hunting and fishing licenses which help maintain animal populations and natural areas.

Forests burn because they have to in order to regenerate themselves. It is a NATURAL lifecycle process.

The destruction of the Amazon for some short-term financial gain for a few is going to have long-lasting impacts on us here in North America. People can argue till they're blue in the face about terms like lungs of the planet but the Amazon truly is incredibly important and more important than money.

Define environmentally conscious?

What does that mean to you?

Does it mean allowing coal corporations to dump waste into our water ways because it is cheaper than having to depose of the waste in a more environmentally friendly way?

You don't see the hypocrisy to donate to a an animal wildlife group -- and then vote for a govt. that would dump waste water into the environment?

I do think some are into the environment -- but only to the degree it doesn't interfere with their lifestyle choices.

Oh you mean like the EPA under Obama actually did at the Gold King Mine? As for that last sentence, do you mean like Hollywood and politicians trotting around the globe spewing all kinds of emissions to preach to us about climate change? Or are you talking about the rich liberals who own multiple mansions that displace wildlife and use mega resources? Is that who you are talking about? Sure sounds like it. What about you? What have YOU given up to save the planet? Have you gotten rid of your car? Air conditioner? Live in a one room flat in a high rise? What?

The mine in CO was entirely the result of the miners. Multiple mines contributed to that buildup. Miners left it in the fragile, polluted state it was and it could have burst at any time. When you have a fragile plug holding back pressurized toxins in a mine, work to make it safer doesn't always go smoother. Preventing that in advance with regulations is a better approach, instead of letting miners do whatever they want and then putting the cleanup burden on the taxpayers.

This thread isn't really about hypocrites living in mansions. I won't shy away from saying what I think of that crowd but it's not the real subject. The Amazon is important, whatever someone wants to call it. It will impact us here in North America if destroyed as my link above shows. The governments of the developed world need to be involved to protect it regardless of what a wannabe dictator thinks in Brazil. Individuals can certainly help in the fight by taking simple steps like not buying Brazilian agricultural products and not buying tropical hardwoods.

Rain forests make rain, cow pastures don't. Brazil may be in for a big heap of Karma if Brazil goes into drought and desertification. Can't raise cattle without water.

It's not going a anywhere. It has suffered more damage under the last Socialist regime and not a peep from the treehuggers. Nobody needs to get involved, mind your business for once and let the people of Brazil handle it how they fell they need to.

I got a solution..... TRUMP OFFER TO BUY THE ---- AMAZON. . We know better how the exploit it with leaving more jungle intact.

As far as going back to PAST Brazilian Presidents. Not called out as the current one. We are in a era TRUMP has reversed safe-guards previous Presidents put in place, a era a Conservative can feel the Government should not even own and preserve -- National Parks or open them up to exploiting resources too.

Add the -- Climate Change controversy the US stands alone in maintaining doubt in or man speeds it up. It is no wonder it is more vocal in a Government of Brazil doing the Amazon burning.

We all learned in school too. The importance and uniqueness of the Amazon and producing oxygen in such a dense large region of vegetation on earth. Now that is as a lie??? That is what the -- lungs of the world references. The HUGE OXYGEN PODUCTION of the Amazon.

We already have increased Carbon Dioxide on earth Science can prove is fact. Now we have further intense destruction of the Amazon. SO OF COURSE THIS CURRENT ERA OF HEATED RHETORIC ON CLIMATE AND PROTECTIONS BEING ERASED. That more noise is being vocal on it with the Amazon.

But most Nations still know that they can't force Brazil to stop. Especially with no US support.

**** But maybe TRUMP could promote ---- WE BUY THE AMAZON TO SAVE IT and the World will luv him.... WE CAN DEEM HIM --- "THE CHOSEN ONE".

20% is greatly exaggerated but even 20% is NOT HUGE! Since when is 1/5 a huge number?
