Most conservatives I know are very environmentally conscious. However, there is a huge difference between CONSERVATION of the environment versus rabid calls for trying to fix the hoax of man made climate change with more tax dollars and penalties for fossil fuel energy use.
We recycle, we conserve energy, don't litter, and many donate to charities, and buy hunting and fishing licenses which help maintain animal populations and natural areas.
Forests burn because they have to in order to regenerate themselves. It is a NATURAL lifecycle process.
The destruction of the Amazon for some short-term financial gain for a few is going to have long-lasting impacts on us here in North America. People can argue till they're blue in the face about terms like lungs of the planet but the Amazon truly is incredibly important and more important than money.

Does it mean allowing coal corporations to dump waste into our water ways because it is cheaper than having to depose of the waste in a more environmentally friendly way?
You don't see the hypocrisy to donate to a an animal wildlife group -- and then vote for a govt. that would dump waste water into the environment?
I do think some are into the environment -- but only to the degree it doesn't interfere with their lifestyle choices.

As for that last sentence, do you mean like Hollywood and politicians trotting around the globe spewing all kinds of emissions to preach to us about climate change? The mine in CO was entirely the result of the miners. Multiple mines contributed to that buildup. Miners left it in the fragile, polluted state it was and it could have burst at any time. When you have a fragile plug holding back pressurized toxins in a mine, work to make it safer doesn't always go smoother. Preventing that in advance with regulations is a better approach, instead of letting miners do whatever they want and then putting the cleanup burden on the taxpayers.
This thread isn't really about hypocrites living in mansions. I won't shy away from saying what I think of that crowd but it's not the real subject. The Amazon is important, whatever someone wants to call it. It will impact us here in North America if destroyed as my link above shows.
