The 9/11 Truth Movement didn't really catch fire (no pun intended) until years later, but on the day of 9/11 when Trump was interviewed he said there's no way that an airplane could crash through the high-grade steel beams of the WTCs or that fire could cause them to collapse.
Didn’t he brag hrs after the towers fell that he now has the tallest building in Manhattan?
nope.
his building isnt even in the top 100 of just NYC.
but! what DID happen was WWOR 9 asked him if his building that he owned, not had built, was now the tallest and his answer was not conclusive as he did not know, you can still hear the non-edited audio* today

What Donald Trump literally said that day was: “40 Wall street actually was the second-tallest building in downtown Manhattan, and it was actually before the World Trade Center the tallest, and and then when they built the World Trade Center it became known as the second-tallest, and now it’s the tallest And I just spoke to my people, and they said it’s the most unbelievable sight, it’s probably seven or eight blocks away from the World Trade Center, and yet Wall Street is littered with two feet of stone and brick and mortar and steel …”
So it is true that during the course of that interview, in response to a query about whether his own buildings had sustained any damage, Trump stated, in reference to the Trump Building, that “now it’s the tallest” [in downtown Manhattan]. Whether that remark constituted “bragging” is a matter of subjective interpretation, however.
* = during the 2016 election, the democrats heavily edited and redacted his words for a negative campaign ad
People were in disbelief when this happened, including Trump. No one believed these buildings would collapse, not even the fire department crews that lost their lives that day. And they would know because they study the effects of heat on building construction.
I was a firefighter at the time. I had just completed my required studies for fire inspector and was two classes away from a fire science degree. The WTC bombing was analyzed many times during the course of my studies.
Steel can elongate by 10% at temperatures of 1000 degrees. There were several of us that questioned the then firmly held belief that the WTC building could withstand a jetliner collision. It turns out we were right. They could not.
