But Democrats are definitely NOT for open borders. We want enforcement of the laws, border control, and a decent immigration policy. I think maybe some of these candidates are just making talking points--you know, the things they say just to get votes. All politicians do it. They will never get open borders because no one wants that. The senate and the house would not allow them to have open borders. Who would want endless numbers of people emptying out their countries and coming here to sponge off us? No one. Some of them sound like they do, but it's empty words and they wouldn't be allowed to do it anyway. It's something they say just to get some extra votes. Do not worry. We will NEVER have open borders. That would be idiotic.

That's exactly the opposite of what they are saying and promoting.
Or how they want to pass immigration reform while simultaneously REFUSING to work with Republicans on on it since....well.....forever.
Reminder: It was Trump who refused to work with Pelosi & Schumer on that, if you recall. They repeatedly tried to schedule meetings, and when they did have meetings, they thought they were close to a deal, but Trump went back on what he'd said. So "no deal."
The Republicans are now a party of total obstruction. This started with Obama winning, when McConnell announced in the Senate that their #1 goal, after Obama won, was to prevent him getting re-elected. That's it. That was their #1 goal. They became total obstructionists, and that's the way they still are.
Democrats believe in government and are more willing to work across the aisle. Because they understand that's how government works. The Republicans, OTOH, don't believe in a democratic government, so they are not inclined to compromise or work together w/the opposition to pass bills.
