Keep in mind that when leftist do-gooder wanabees say they want only a few more "reasonable restrictions" on guns, it's because the restrictions they imposed last year didn't work. Crime and mass shootings continue merrily along, and even increase. And so now they want to impose a few more regulations and restrictions. And when those don't work, next year a few more. The only scheme that does work, is complete confiscation of all of the people's guns, followed by regular and unceasing house-to-house searches.

And that's exactly what they are gradually working their way up to, one small piece at a time. Actually only total confiscation and repeated nationwide sweeps of homes, have any chance of actually working.... at the price of leaving the majority of the populace completely vulnerable to the predations of criminals. Amazingly, the gun-control pushers are actually trying to fool people into believing that it's an acceptable government option.

So-called "gun control" laws are only obeyed by the law-abiding. And they aren't the ones causing the problem.

Indeed. Thing is who exactly will be attempting to perform these house to house operations? The military? I highly doubt they would cooperate. The commanding general of the Marine Corps has already defied an order to deploy Marines in DC. DHS? FBI? DEA? ATF? The alphabet agencies would probably cooperate to a point. But there's hardly enough of them to take on the armed citizenry. Yes, the Militia. It would put a new definition to the term "civil disobedience".

Yes, what the neo Dems want is total confiscation. But I believe they actually think we firearms owners will turn in our weapons of our own free will. Outright confiscation and ban would be...problematic...at best. Damn few will volunteer to turn in their firearms. Just look at what happened when CA passed an "assault weapons" ban and told owners of such firearms as defined by dumba$$ Democrats to turn them in. Hell, that even happened in New Zealand. Very few turned in their guns government order go hang.

They may manage to push through some sort of "law" banning rifles like the AR but even if they do how much do they think they can get away with in using the Constitution for a$$ wipe? Thee is the Patriot Act (thanks Bush) Which Obama promised to repeal before he was elected for his first term. But the power it gives the government was something he rather liked. So it was kept standing and even expanded in certain areas. But house to house door crashing? That wouldn't be pretty.

You live in California none of the proposed federal legislation would even effect you because your already living under some of the strictest gun control in the nation. Micro stamp law has effectively shut down any new semi-auto handguns for years since 2012. If I'm not mistaken you can have your guns confiscated by the California Department of Justice based merely on an anonymous phone call reporting you as a danger.

I would be in favor of a commission to investigate all federal gun laws and produce a real report what works what doesn't from honest non political group. Knee jerk gun control does not reduce crime, but zero controls on firearms is also equally knee jerk. The data can be analyzed I would bet they would find any new legislation have zero effect on gun violence. While both sides are firmly politically locked in battle over gun control eventually we will wind up with lot of knee jerk laws. Depending on the 2022 election with the NRA in real trouble we could end up with some kind of Australian type ban.
