I thought Id create a thread on this after it coming up in some other threads on this board.

Its very interesting if you look back 100 yrs...what was considered porn then...compared to porn today.

It becomes very evident what path we are on after looking at this!!

The strange part about this, parents and many other people out there today, claim they are very much against a lot of this, especially when it involves the underage...but at the same time, these same people have NO problem with 'barely legal porn' or any other kind of porn today?!

Im not sure how to explain this? Can they not see the direction in which 'barely legal' porn is headed? but yet there are no calls to ban it?

The history of porn within the last 100 yrs proves without a doubt that we are ALL being desensitized to this slowly and methodically, and that is frightening to me.

Consider that within the past 100 yrs, a women exposing her ankles, calves, etc was considered pornography at one time!!! and look at any porn mag sold today, (Hustler for example), would have been CRIMINAL not too long ago, but even Cincinnati,OH one of the most conservative cities, allows a Hustler store right in the downtown area?!

My opinion is that people do not want to admit this is happening and there is no way to stop it...the fact is, pornography (in the next 50 yrs) will likely be material that is criminal right now!

Porn has gone to the extremes. They push boundaries. I think if you watch a lot of it then your sex life could be ruined. Very few women in this world will do what a woman in porn does. Some say that porn empowers women. To me it degrades them. It also belittles women in the eyes of men. Just my thoughts on the issue. Some will have a different opinion.

Pornography is toxic.

The more you are in it, the more likely the desires descend to more deviant endeavors.

I have been there in my teens and as a young adult.

I have seen the discussion boards where people want out of it and can't bring themselves to leave it.

It's totally toxic to one's spirit. Seems like you are defending the practice.

I guarantee you that if you look at cave paintings from the Neanderthals, you would find some porn. It's been around forever. I learned about female anatomy from Hustler magazine back in the early 70s. I don't think the content has changed drastically since then.

What has changed is the availability. With the internet, it is now possible to access porn with the click of a mouse, and to find any type of fetish you want. But again, every teenage boy in the 60s had Playboy and Hustler in his bottom drawer, and imagined what he would do to the woman. Only now he doesn't have to use his imagination so much, because its on video.

The exception is kiddie porn. It's around. It is not acceptable, and is still illegal, as it should be. Porn is degrading to women, but as long as the models participate willingly there is little to do about it. Children are a different story, as is human trafficking.

I can't tell you where the line is between pornography and non-pornography is. As you mention, in pop culture it has changed dramatically over the years. The "Gibson Girls" of the 1890s were considered porn by some at the time. The "flapper girls" of the 1920s were considered outrageous and pornographic at the time in both looks and behavior. And at this point, most people would find their attire very elegant and somewhat modest. Nowadays, a bikini is not considered pornographic by most, but would have been ludicrous in typical 1880s settings.

I can't really answer the question. I've seen my share of nude woman photos and paintings. Honestly, I am very attracted to women, but pornographic photos of women have never really been appealing to me at all. I have pictures of women plastered all over my walls--they are either photos or paintings of women from the era of about 1880 through 1920--high necked frilly dresses, hats, gorgeous hairstyles... that is attractive to me. I'd rather see a woman like that any day rather than porn.

And as far as "hardcore porn," I doubt I really know what that is or its extent. I've never seen it. But I can tell you right now, I have no desire to see it. I know it wouldn't do a thing for me sexually. In fact, it would probably turn me off/disgust me.

As a male who lived his teenage/young adult life during the meteoric rise of the internet and no holds barred pornography — it bores me now. We figured out sex sells and we pushed it to peak absorption.
