That said, democrats won’t take this laying down. With increasing contempt for our Constitution, Maryland democrat legislative leaders have already announced plans to implement additional restrictions by the end of the year. Democrats control a super majority of seats in the state legislature so they can override any Hogan veto.

Not so many in modern times.

Hasn't been a bad run in the more recent modern era, IMO. Prior to Hogan's soon to be 8 year tenure, Bob Ehrlich served from 2003-2007. True, prior to that, there were multiple decades without a GOP governor in MD, but I speak more of recent times.

Up until the 21st century, Maryland was the poster boy for relatively sane politics, Spiro Agnew's tax problems notwithstanding. Generally, it was a moderate state that elected moderate Democrats and moderate Republicans. Looked great to this DC lad who was stuck in a city run by lunatics.

Larry Hogan is a relic of those times. Montgomery County and Baltimore exemplify the new insanity.
