We've suffered with Maryland's draconian "may issue" nonsense in this Democrat dominated state as long as have been on this earth. Our governor took the first step towards sanity by relaxing "may issue" rules. This is one of the few times I've been proud of my state.

One of the many reasons I fled Maryland was the “may issue” nonsense. Nobody with a clean record living in Baltimore should have to explain their “need” for a gun to an MSP bureaucrat.

It's certainly refreshing to see a governor respect the ruling of the Supreme Court in a matter of Constitutional interpretation and act in accordance with that ruling, instead of trying to find ways to circumvent it.

It's a start but they still have a long way to go. Aren't they one of the most restrictive states in regards to MSRs?

Wow. Unexpected good news from the Governor.

It sounds like the Speaker of the House disagrees. We will see what new anti-gun laws the Speaker tries to push through the Maryland House when a new Governor is seated.

I don't know that Maryland residents are out of the woods yet, but it looks good at least until the term-limited Governor is replaced.

This is still surprisingly good news.

Hogan is a moderate who has the ability to appeal to both parties. That’s a rare politician. Pretty unbelievable that a blue state voted for him twice.

Maryland has a history of being open to electing Republican governors.

That said, democrats won’t take this laying down. With increasing contempt for our Constitution, Maryland democrat legislative leaders have already announced plans to implement additional restrictions by the end of the year. Democrats control a super majority of seats in the state legislature so they can override any Hogan veto.

And I'm sure the extremist libs in charge of the Maryland General Assembly don't care one bit what the Constitution says, or what the Supreme Court says.

They just ignore or don't enforce laws they disagree with. Glad I escaped that dump.
