I was a member of AARP when I was in my early 40s. I've known about Google for such a long time now.
The NAACP is a civil rights organization and seeing as how I am a white person who hasn't faced racial discrimination, why would I resent the existence of this organization, meant to help those who actually do face racial discrimination? How self-centered would that be?
You're thinking that men really have it rough these days and need someone to go to bat for them, huh? Well, best of luck with that.
I've often wondered how 55+ communities are not age discrimination against younger people.
Since somehow its not, can we also have under 55 year old communities?
Since we have Jimmy Buffet branded 55+ communities, why not Justin Bieber branded under 55 communities?
I think under 55 would sell well in Florida, where I live.
Retired people get discounts for belonging to the AARP....why not the AAWP for working people to get deals too?
Along the same lines, since we have traditionally Black Colleges, can we also have traditionally White colleges?
Since we have the NAACP, could we also have the NAAWP? The NAAWP could lobby for more white people in the NBA, WNBA, & NFL.
Since we have the NOW (National Organization for Women) can we have NOM for Men? There are more women than men in the USA, so men are in the minority.
If we are going to stereotype, & divide American citizens, should it go in every possible direction, just to be fair?
I'm not saying it should, or shouldn't, I'm just asking for your thoughts on these "other controversies"
There were a lot of singles only apartments. In the early 80s they passed a law making that illegal so that families would have more choices. In practicality, it meant a bunch of apartment complexes went into the toilet because they weren't designed to handle kids. At the time, they left open the possibility of 55+ communities.

I agree, but I would modify your statement a little..
“stick with your own kind, but keep paying your social security”.
The elderly get lots of perks because they vote at the highest rates. That's all.
Talk to me when you see the silliness in someone on Social Security and Medicare complaining about the single mother, who works two jobs, because she gets SNAP.

Why is she single with two kids? Unless her husband died she made her own bed in life. One illegitimate kid, ok. Everyone makes mistakes. Two kids than you are just irresponsible and expect the rest of society to pay for your inability to keep your legs closed. That's the problem with a lot of whats going on today. There's no personal responsibility. If you think that's OK than you are destined to failure.

And the elderly get perks because they paid and are vested in the system. You do understand that terminology? Or are you just another disgruntled child, that thinks everyone else owes them a living?

You remind me of my 5-year-old self. After spending a mother's day and father's day with family one year, I asked my mom "Why can't we have a Children's Day (as I wanted a party and gifts)?" My mom's answer was "Every day is Children's Day!"
Historically, every day is Man's Day, Young Person's Day, White People's Day, etc. Why do demographics of a population who've not had any strife or discrimination based on their race, gender, or age deserve a special movement?
I think you know the answer to the over-55 question, although I suspect that was just the sheep's clothing for your real question. Many over 55's would like very different living arrangements. Homes where kids aren't runinng up and down the streets, where things are quiet. Where they can go to their neighborhood pool and not be overrun by toddlers and teens. Where they can go to a gym and not be made to feel awkward by all the gym rats. Where their neighborhood clubhouse activities are more geared to older interests versus what a neighborhood center for young families might offer.
