Uh excuse me there ALREADY IS a third party. The LIBERTARIAN party!

The only party that is for small government, low taxes, reduced unnecessary laws, lgbt AND gun AND religious rights, and ecology balanced with human needs.

I am very interested to learn what this Forward party comes up with for a platform. Or maybe they should just merge with the Libertarians, then those of us who are fiscally conservative and social liberal can stop all this madness.

I will be VERY disappointed if they come up with an anti-self defense / gun stance on their platform, if so it'll just be another version of the democrats.

Dozens of former Republican and Democratic officials announced on Wednesday a new national political third party to appeal to millions of voters they say are dismayed with what they see as America’s dysfunctional two-party system.

The new party, called Forward and whose creation was first reported by Reuters, will initially be co-chaired by former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang and Christine Todd Whitman, the former Republican governor of New Jersey.
Yang is one of the farthest-left members of the Dem party. A pusher of Universal Basic Income among other socialistic schemes.

Note to third-party advocates: If you want to get any attention, form a party that's NOT to the left of today's Dem party.

I will pay attention. I've been looking more toward the Libertarians recently but if there is a centrist party I will also take a look. The way things are going now I can't see myself voting for either of the two major parties in the upcoming elections. But as Roboteer points out, if it's a gang of misfits without a real platform, then I'm not so interested. Yang's UBI isn't a draw. I'd rather see a coalition of centrist/moderates.

They're capitalizing on discontent. A party should be formed around a shared set of values, not "everyone hates the other guys right now."

exactly. the propagandist msm has painted libertarians as anti government. the intellectually deficient will say things like “we have speed limits..” when the deregulation topic is brought up. just because you are for limited government and deregulation, doesn’t mean you are pro anarchy. that is why libertarians need to get the message out on what they stand for. it’s the most centrist solution for a centrist nation.

The new party, called Forward and whose creation was first reported by Reuters, will initially be co-chaired by former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang and Christine Todd Whitman, the former Republican governor of New Jersey. They hope the party will become a viable alternative to the Republican and Democratic parties that dominate U.S. politics, founding members told Reuters.

The new party is being formed by a merger of three political groups that have emerged in recent years as a reaction to America’s increasingly polarized and gridlocked political system.

The merger involves the Renew America Movement, formed in 2021 by dozens of former officials in the Republican administrations of Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush and Donald Trump; the Forward Party, founded by Yang, who left the Democratic Party in 2021 and became an independent; and the Serve America Movement, a group of Democrats, Republicans and independents whose executive director is former Republican congressman David Jolly.

Good that they are doing what they believe is the best thing to do. We will see what they have to offer in the way of solutions and managing affairs. On the surface – seems like a centrist/moderate group with no policy positions at this point.
It will be interesting to see what happens. The last time we tried this was Ross Perot's Reform Party which I voted for in '96. My guess is that the swamp will come together to make sure this new party doesn't threaten their rule.

Libertarians seem to have been around for awhile but have not made much of a dent into anything at this point.

You could say there is a green party also - which has also been ineffective.

Ultimately to me - it's individuals, not parties, that make the difference. Trump is officially a Republican - but he is more just being himself and had no problem crossing the Republican party when he felt the need. He is the example of an individual making a huge difference in the country.

The balance team? Maybe it’s exactly what’s needed. Gen Y might push this in their time.
